the thing about literary analysis is that its not often “the author intentionally made the curtains blue to represent sadness“ its more like “this is the 5th piece of writing where this author describes blue curtains, incidentally the bedroom his mother died in when he was 6 had blue curtains“

Literary analysis is just making shit up and assuming things that you have no way of knowing, it’s like jerking off the writer’s ego but to yourself, if I ever wrote a book (which I never would because I hate writing AND reading), I’d be pissed if anyone analysed it, especially if a teacher made students analyse it, I would find the school, go there, and uppercut the teacher just to be like “BRO IT MEANT FUCKING NOTHING, JUST LIKE YOU”

this is all discourse ive seen on tiktok

“tumblr was just as bad!!!” yes there was stupid discourse on tumblr. however, tiktok allegedly has 1 billion users. tumblr, in 2018, had about 32 million active users. tumblr peaked in 2014 with 100 million users. even if we assume that tiktok is lying, more people, especially young people, have access to smartphones now! Therr are way more tiktok users than there ever was on tumblr. the pile ons and callouts and harassment i see on tiktok is a lot worse than what i witnessed on tumblr. this is a concerning trend we wouldn’t completely write off because “tumblr was just as bad” or “leave minors alone!”

TikTok seems like a real breeding ground for cyberbullying too with how easily identifiable users are. Not a lot of people even show their faces on tumblr.

And there's that thing TikTok LOVES to do where they en masse cyberstalk and dox people repeatedly for utterly random reasons such as "just seems a bit odd."

Honestly being overworked makes people unobservant and passive and it literally kills people every day. People don’t seem to realize that an overworked nurse might not notice your sepsis symptoms and a tired truck driver might not notice your car when he’s merging into the lane. Failing to protect worker’s rights impacts nearly everyone

THIS. I want workers to be treated well for their own sake, but I NEED workers to be treated well for MY sake. We have got to stop glorifying eroding margin into the negative zones.

Being nice to someone you don’t like is not manipulation btw it’s being civil

Mmm no, this is like seeking validation. Ofc it’s best to be nice but if I don’t like you or we both dislike eachother, then there’s no reason for us to communicate or be around eachother. It’s not about being immature, I would much rather not put myself in such a situation.
