Meet Tumblr, the adoptable mutt. Look into her slightly worried and terribly intelligent eyes and feel your heart melt. Can you breathe? No. And that is Tumblr’s fault.

Tumblr is currently at New York’s Animal Haven, but she’d prefer to be at your house. If you have room in your life for a pet, you’re looking to adopt, and you’re a solidly responsible person, Tumblr (or another fine pup) could be yours.

The holidays are upon us, after all. If there’s a time to be generous with your heart, it’s now.

Changing times hasten the demise of traditional barns

As an icon, nothing tops it. Classic Pennsylvania Dutch bank barns stand alongside horse drawn buggies as the much-photographed, representative symbol of Dutch country.

But their numbers, like farms themselves, are in decline.

"When barns are lost, so is part of our historical heritage," said Bob Ensminger, retired Kutztown University professor and author of the book "The Pennsylvania Barn. "These buildings are unique, and some of the construction techniques date back to Roman times."

A gorgeous shot of Arches National Park in Utah!

James Shoemaker captured this unique shot of Delicate Arch — one of the most photographed sites in the park. “When you enter Arches National Park for the first time, you cannot be prepared for the grandeur of the rock formations, especially Delicate Arch,” James says.

Your daily dose of cute: A five-week old southern sea otter pup. This orphaned pup was rescued by Monterey Bay Aquarium and now calls Shedd Aquarium in Chicago home. Listed as a threatened species, southern sea otters live in the nearshore waters along the mainland coastline of California and are among the smallest of marine mammals. Check out the Ventura Fish and Wildlife Office to learn more about ongoing conservation efforts to ensure these beautiful creatures remain a part of our marine environment.
