how the story goes ⁺◟ park sunghoon

There was once a time where Park Sunghoon was written in every single chapter of your life story. 

It started at chapter one, born on the same day in the same hospital in very close proximity to each other. An unlikely friendship between parents, led to a bond between two innocent hearts. 

Once upon a time, you had a soulmate. At first, it was platonic and the thought of having anything more disgusted you both beyond belief, but as hormones blossomed; a teenage crush was formed. 

Then came the plot twist in your childhood story; the script flipped and it quickly became a love story. At the age of 15, Jake Sim exposed the feelings Sunghoon had been suppressing, clumsily letting you know that the tall, awkward introvert had your name engraved on the necklace he always refused to take off. 

Being in a relationship with Sunghoon wasn’t a whole lot different from being his best friend and that’s what made the two of you so perfect together. You didn’t need to force anything, there was no rush. The journey was natural and that’s partly the reason it worked out for so long.

You would dive into the deepest of oceans just to retrieve a piece of seaweed from the very bottom if that’s what he wanted. Sunghoon would build a rocket ship and fly to the moon for a piece of moon dust just to see a smile on your face. You were so hopelessly in love with each other. 

It’s hard to pinpoint where things went wrong. 

Age 18, a once in a lifetime opportunity was offered to Park Sunghoon. A place in Japan was open for him to further his ice skating career. And he took that chance without even a thought. You were happy for him; you were proud. This is all he had ever wanted and you weren’t going to stand in the way of that. 

The promise to do long distance was empty and both of you knew it. It took two months before things completely fell apart and you made the dreaded decision. 

He was heartbroken. You were distraught. The future you had planned together from the small age of 15 had crumbled right before your eyes and there was nothing that you could do about it. 

It ends at chapter nineteen. Park Sunghoon’s character in your life made his exit and you were forced to turn the page and continue to write your life story without him in it.

Once the sole focus of your story, now turned into a background character. And maybe that’s just how it was meant to be.

Buried a few feet away from you in the grass was a smooth, palm-sized piece of beech wood, which you quickly picked up before walking back to the bench. You sat down horizontally, stretching out your legs and taking up as much space as possible whilst you started carving down the edges of the beech wood, flicking away the occasional shavings.
