Setting the scene: Post-PyeongChang win, in the car en route to do media (for 20 hours straight). Buzzing with excitement (and armed with beer and cheeseburgers). Sending a video home to our families, thanking those that couldn’t be in Korea with us.

this worked last night lets go for round two
Couldn’t hurt anything right??
He doesn’t look a day over 129.
This is Jonathan the Great Tortoise.
He lives at the Governor’s mansion on St. Helena island in the South Atlantic. (The final resting place of Napoleon Bonaparte.) He spends his days hanging out on a perfectly manicured lawn with his best friend Fred and his mate Emma.
Here is a pic of him (left) as a young whippersnapper in 1886.
Jonathan might not look a day over 129, but he is not completely immune to the aging process. He has lost most of his vision due to cataracts. His hearing is still pretty good and he really enjoys listening to people playing tennis.
Despite his advanced age Jonathan is still a sex machine. His handlers say his libido is quite strong to this day. Here he is posting a thirst trap to Instagram.
After he uses his powers of seduction he’ll get busy with Emma.
Or Fred.
Did I mention the world’s oldest tortoise is bisexual?
Nice.
Happy belated Bisexual Day of Visibility everyone!
This captures how the new millennium slowly murdered the silly idealism and creative freedom of the 90s with it’s unrelenting cynicism perfectly.
It’s kind of sad to look at it.
October can’t come soon enough
IT IS AUGUST
This has been in my likes since last year. It is time.
This is the 21st night of September skeleton. He only appears once a year.

this still cracks me up like can you imagine you’re 130 years old and suddenly a gigantic alien baby starts following you around
*pretends to be shocked but also maybe this will make people realize that Indigenous People Know What The Hell They’re Doing and Deserve Respect*
3 other fun/cool facts about the Inuit:
1. They also invented kayaks and dog booties.
Dog booties are actually really important for working sled dogs in winter to protect their paw pads from iceburn and keep ice from getting in between their toes and burning them that way.
2. The traditional Inuit diet is one of the healthiest in the world, and the most balanced for the ratio of Omega 3 to Omega 6 consumption
Most modern diets consume way too much Omega 6 and not enough Omega 3.
3. Inuit is a plural noun. When speaking about a single person the correct word is Inuk (always capitalized)
For example, “This Inuk woman is wearing traditional Inuit tattoos”.
And she is wonderful
Canadian photographer Christopher Herwig has traveled the vast expanse of the former Soviet Union, documenting a phenomenon – the strange and wonderful architecture of Soviet Union bus stops.
This is a beautiful graphic but it doesn’t explain the pros and cons of each fire type.
The Swedish torch is good for an efficient and contained fire, it’s controlled and good for cooking over and produces less light and heat than other fires. It can be difficult to keep going once you burn through the original log
The teepee is your traditional campfire. Good for heat and light not great for cooking, burns through fuel fairly quickly
The star fire is one of the slowest burning and not well protected but provides an even heat good for slow cooking and is excellent if you have limited fuel and need the protection a fire can provide
The lean to is a compact and efficient fire that evolves into a dense and hot bed of coals. The structure creates a good source of air flow which can help damp wood burn. A slightly better cooking fire that isn’t as bright. It also provides protection from wind on one side
The platform fire is incredibly hot and will create a very thick bed of coals but it doesn’t have a lot of air flow and is a little harder to get started.
The log cabin is big and bright and has lots of air flow which again is good for damp logs. You can also use this structure to start a smaller fire in the middle while drying out bigger logs. This fire will crumble into a messier bed of coals that don’t produce particularly even heat for cooking.
The modified leanto is excellent if you need it to perform multiple functions. The side with more fuel will burn bright and hot and the side with less fuel will burn less hot but more evenly and controlled, this gives you different cooking options.
