She/Her. 22. A bit of everything. YA fiction, video games, dimension 20 and enjoyable things

here is a short list of how Ben and Jerry are actually the same person:

-easily flustered/startled -married to hot blonde -their wives are amazing and too good for them -have three children -actual human disasters -bisexual

didn’t realize this was about the men from parks and rec and thought you were talking about the ice cream men

Students are often aware that their AI hall monitors are imperfect and can be misused. An investigation by The 74 Million found that Gaggle would send students warning emails for harmless content, like profanity in a fiction submission to the school literary magazine. One high school newspaper reported that the district used monitoring software to reveal a student’s sexuality and out the student to their parents. (Today’s CDT report revealed that 13 percent of students knew someone who had been outed as a result of student-monitoring software.) A Texas student newspaper’s editorial board argued that their school’s use of the software might prevent students from seeking mental health support.
Also disquieting are the accounts of monitoring software breaching students’ after-school lives. One associate principal I spoke to for this story says his district would receive “Questionable Content” email alerts from Gaggle about pornographic photos and profanities from students’ text messages. But the students weren’t texting on their school-issued Chromebooks. When administrators investigated, they learned that while teens were home, they would charge their phones by connecting them to their laptops via USB cables. The teens would then proceed to have what they believed to be private conversations via text, in some cases exchanging nude photos with significant others—all of which the Gaggle software running on the Chromebook could detect. Now the school advises students not to plug their personal devices into their school-issued laptops.

where do I even start, man, aside from the obvious:

If someone else like your job or school gives you a computer or makes you download proctoring software spyware, you need to treat that thing like it's cursed.

  • Do not use it for personal web searches you don't want them to see
  • Cover your laptop camera with tape or a cover any time it is not deliberately in use.
  • Do not log into your personal social media unless you want them to see
  • Do not use it to shop for personal things online that you don't want them to see
  • Do not connect that laptop to your phone for charging unless you've got a cable with data pins removed... best not to do it at all.
  • For the love of god, do not use it to watch porn

I think the state of children's online privacy is pretty dire and I hope we stop doing this shit ASAP.

Is and continues to be my favorite dance video. Dude’s so unexpectedly fluid.

> High score! What happened? Did i break it?

> You don’t see too many YouTube videos from 2005..

Weird to think that was almost a 10 years ago.

i think this is my favorite video of all time. ive been utterly enamored with it for years – i really believe it captures such a genuine, delightful aspect of humanity and culture from the 2000s, and its so fun to watch!!

I could tell instantly from the way he was positioned on the bar that this video was going to showcase some serious skill. I was nonetheless cometely unprepared for what happened.

The DDR bros from the early 2000s will always have a soft spot in my heart

Ok but those parents will probably just sell the stamps for drugs so the kid still goes hungry.

So instead of the child possibly going hungry you’d rather be certain of they went hungry, bold but honest of you.

Sell food stamps 😑 spoken like a true dumbass churning out Reagan era slander who never has been on EBT

i get where that 'u are not immune to cult conditioning' sentiment comes from, but if u spend any time actually reading cult stories u notice pretty quickly that there are always ppl who do successfully resist, ppl who leave when things start getting bad and ppl who see through the bullshit in the first place. there is a large gradation in susceptibility to con artists and there are things u can do to get better at spotting them. treating cult leaders like they're irresistible mind control supergeniuses is kinda just doing their propagandizing for them.

The important thing to emphasise with the “you are not immune to cult conditioning” phrase is that there is nothing inherently different about people who join cults. It doesn’t mean cults are all powerful mind control, it means you’re not smarter, stronger, or more moral than a cult victim. It can happen to you too, so stay vigilant, educate yourself on cult tactics, and treat cult victims with dignity and respect.

ppl who oppose gender affirming care for kids are nuts like the extent of medical intervention for trans kids is maybe puberty blockers but they’ll still be like “SO UR SAYING WE SHOULD LET TODDLERS HAVE TOP SURGERY???????” barbara toddlers do not have a top to surgery

Saw someone asking "so do you endorse giving puberty blockers to five year olds?"

Friend, a five year old should not have puberty to block. If they do that's called precocious puberty and is the original reason puberty blockers were invented. If a five year old is going through puberty I absolutely endorse them being given puberty blockers

I’ve been in the middle of the ocean at night and now live in texas and it is so hard to explain to people that no, they have not ever seen the night sky. It is so hard to explain to people that what they think is a proper night sky is fucking pathetic. A disgrace.

People talk about how you can’t see stars in the city and yeah, that’s true, but their concept of “seeing stars” is being able to make out orion’s belt.

So, so few people have see the sky in all its glory and it’s not sad. It’s a fucking crime. Seeing a perfectly dark night, no clouds, not a hint of light pollution? That’s a fucking religious experience.

The sky the vast vast majority of us grew up with is not the sky that inspired us to look up. It is not the sky that inspired constellations. You can’t even see most constellations.

Your ancestors looked at the night sky and said “surely, that is where the gods must live.” And you might be lucky if you can see hardly more than a handful of stars.

The sky is full, fucking FULL, of stars, and you’ve never seen them.

light pollution is also actively harmful to many species of birds, mammals, and insects

I took these photos on the Isle of Skye, in a place with no light pollution. Skies can look like this.

soup is now what bacon and pizza were in the 2010's. frogs are the new owls, mushrooms are the new succulents.

stop saying white people don’t have their own culture this belongs to no one else

That “oh” at the end is the funniest thing I have ever seen. There is no other diplomatic way to respond.

while you were attending therapy i was studying the blade

what do you mean i need better coping mechanisms

>a wild therapist has entered the chat you need an additional coping mechanism studying the blade is a DBT principle called Building Mastery - wherein you engage in anything that is practical during which you gain skill and can actively see yourself progress - which is resilience building technique by which you shore yourself against vulnerability factors that make it harder to regulate emotions and manage activities of daily life and interpersonal interactions effectively. if you continue to study the blade while engaging in therapy, it will in fact make your therapeutic session more effective because having a skill that you pursue builds self-esteem and is a foundation upon which other coping skills can be built. so not better coping skills, blademaster, additional ones. you are already heading in the right direction and you have proven you have the tenacity to apply yourself to one discipline. now show us what you can do when applying yourself to your healing.

A slow-burn horror story about someone being stalked by the same person in increasingly improbable locations, from being inside public stores the protagonist is walking past to catching glimpses of them in passing cars to seeing them in their own home, until it suddenly becomes clear the protagonist just doesn't know what mirrors are.
