Hi! I’m so glad you blazed the planner, since I don’t do most social media anymore and hadn’t gotten an email about it. I’ve been using your planners since 2017 or so, and I absolutely love them. I know this is the last edition (and while it’s sad to hear, I get that you’re moving on to other things), but is it going to be a limited run? Should I stock up?
Thanks again for all the joy your work has brought me, and thanks for doing one last run :- )
i love blaze and giving tumblr money over meta or google :*)
hopefully this undated version of the planner will be in print for years to come, but i really don't have any guarantees. 1 page at a time has been in print for 9 years so i'm hopeful the planner will get to continue alongside it idk
:)
12 years ago i made a planner called UNSOLICITED ADVICE full of gentle nagging and dad jokes and creative prompts.
it was a personal project that i printed at work to give to my friends for holiday gifts. i posted pics on tumblr and people wanted to buy it so i made some more… and then some more… i never expected it to grow the way it did, but people connected with it, and my whole deal, and i was so happy to make something fun, useful, cool, and affordable.
for the next decade i self-published every year, getting slowly better and better, taking feedback and learning a lot about how to produce, distribute, and ship what became thousands of planners. i learned about ISBN barcodes and how to sell on am*zon and i even sold it in some stores. it was really fun growing my art and learning so much but the work became so much bigger and idk i never quite figured out how to hire anybody to help and i guess i kinda burned out.
last year i told myself i was done... and then penguin random house got involved.
now we are releasing one last edition of UNSOLICITED ADVICE that you fill in as you go, so you can start anytime, and if you love it, keep using it forever.
don’t leave out the best part
I’ve never seen the second photo before.
