if you wanna see me but you're on mobile, it's tagged "pics of shoofle" i'm a housewife, i like to do carpentry and play video games, i'm queer poly kinky depressed AND TRANS! this blog is almost entirely personal blogging and i'm trying to get back into the swing of that after many years away. i reblog sparingly on this blog, and in tremendous quantity on my sideblog, perfectly-ultimate-great-shoofle

tonight you should be watching the fast and the furious: tokyo drift. and remembering just how good the music is in it!

taps microphone

anyone listening? i’m thinking about writing a blog post. anyone got any thoughts on this matter?

I was thinking about how word definitions can't really exist in a concrete way and how words have a variety of meanings in different contexts and anything can mean anything and it's just like, everything is vibes all the way down. Words mean whatever they are uttered and heard to mean.

IT'S SHOOFLE DAY! it's my birthday! please deposit your gifts at the receptacle

i am angry that most people don't have my nuanced understanding of what's going on in the tumblr offices and for the tumblr staff in general

for criticisms as well as apologia

rofl this y2k warning 90s thing is pretty damn funny

Six or seven years after it was supposed to expire, my charlie card has finally been rejected :'( rip to a quing

the people i know are not reaching for violent resistance because they love violence, they are reaching for violent resistance because nothing else has worked

hot take: the reign of terror was bad

it's not strange that lots of internet contrarians/communists think that it was fine, because it was undoubtedly Cool, but there seems to be some idea that it was simply a necessary part of overthrowing the monarchy, which, because it happened afterward, clearly cannot be the case

like, the reign of terror shouldn't be compared to what came before and after, because it was not the only alternative to what came before and after

it should be compared to not doing it

(why mention this when other things at the time were worse? well, because people think it was good, whereas effectively nobody thinks the french monarchy was good)

The old Mark Twain short terror long terror quote is good and accurate but also a weird framing when you take a step back - what was the reign of terror supposed to have accomplished, anyway? Given that it led directly to a reactionary movement that ended the radical stage of the revolution, it certainly wasn't a very smart political move by its perpetrators

As with Stalin (who has since stolen Robespierre's spot as standard-bearer for authleft mass murder) I can't shake the sense that left wing terror is almost as counterproductive as it is morally wrong, and its advocates mostly just want an excuse to inflict it

i do think it's worth pointing out that there are absolutely a bunch of monarchists these days who think the main crime of the french monarchy was that they were too low iq or something. like i think i agree with the broad point of this post but "nobody thinks the french monarchy was good" is a point i have to quibble with, i'm not sure that's as universal an opinion as we'd like to think. partly because of the monarchists and partly because a lot of people have no opinion of the french monarchy

i successfully fixed our shade structure tent thingy! the buttons that pop out to lock the legs at their full height weren't coming out enough. after poking them a bunch i thought of tapping them on the back with a hammer and it worked perfectly! and one of them had gotten stuck down inside the tube, so i used a thin piece of stiff wire bent into a hook to fish it out. success!

Okay I'm calling it! This evening, probably around 8-9, I'm going to stream a video game! It's called Deliver Us the Moon, it's about being alone on a moonbase, seems pretty spooky and stuff. Tune in at https://twitch.tv/ada_adorable, hang out, chat with me, look at my face in the corner! I like having some company while I game :)
