So yeah they took out a lot of things from the school for good and evil movie (my other post goes into more detail) but you know ONE THINF they TOTALLY COULDVE KEPT AS THE SCENE WAS EVEN IN THE MOVIE was

“A princess doesn’t save a prince, I can’t change the world if I’m dead.” - Sophie

“THEN WHY DID SHE?” - Tedros

Would it have hurt them to add that line in THEY WERE LITERALLY RIGHT THERE. The tagatha development was SO BAD I don’t even want to talk about it. You bet I’ll still be editing them though because they were my book FAVES

I had to pause watching the sge movie to sleep (40 minutes left) and I have- so many questions.

(spoilers!!!)

how are they actually gna do world w/o princes w/o having had august sader in the first book? I get some things need to be cut but cutting the circus? changing sofie's entire personality? adding in the school master?? not having tedros and agatha hate ecahother? changing the trial by tale? pushing so many other characters to the background and adding in gregor?

I do so so strongly believe that this cast did everything they could and still killed it w this script. I adore them all. but jfc it would get good at some points then just derail so badly, and the modern music???

SGE Movie: Where is the character development? (spoilers obviously)

The School for Good and Evil should have been a tv series.

It suffers from having so much detail lost because they had to shove it all into one 2 and half hour time period. It’s one of the few movies that would have done way way better as a series so that way we could get more of the critical details that lead into further stories.

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the movie, but I would have liked to see more of Agatha and Sophie cheating to get what Sophie wants, Sader could have existed, we could see more of Tedros choosing Agatha over and over during the challenges during Yuba’s class. It would have added so much more to this world that is so rich in the books but kinda feels like a painted backdrop in the movie.

The School for Good and Evil is a decent movie but an awful awful adaption. It’s essentially a badly written fanfic of the original book.

I have many issues with the movie but the biggest (In my opinion) is the exclusion of the Mirror scene from the book??? It was not in the movie???? The scene that made me cry when Agatha realized she was beautiful all along? Poised against Sophie’s screams as Sophie’s nemesis grows stronger? I would have paid for that.  (Also disclaimer: I only read the first book, I could never get into the sequels, but I loved that book to literal tatters)
