A place for sapphic aces

@acesapphic

Posts a mix of general ace and sapphic positivity. Asks are always welcome! If you send me an ask off anon, please tell me if you want a private or public answer. I am a bi, demi ace. Terfs, don't follow me.

i'm currently researching butch identity in mid-century america! here's a fact about post-WWII LGBT communities in port cities that blew my mind today. from lillian faderman's odd girls and twilight lovers: a history of lesbian life in 20th century america

[Image ID: a picture of a paragraph in a book, which reads

Ironically, the military also contributed to the establishment of a larger lesbian subculture when it became less lenient in its policy toward homosexuals once the war was over. Thousands of homosexual personnel were loaded onto “queer ships” and sent with “undesirable” discharges to the nearest U. S. port. Many of them believed that they could not go home again. They simply stayed where they were disembarked, and their numbers helped to form large homosexual enclaves that were beginning to develop in port cities such as New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Boston. Historian Allan Bérubé wryly remarks: “The government sponsored a migration of the gay community.”

I just linked to this in a post, but I want to highlight it more explicitly. This guide is really illuminating, and if you are not a trans femme you should still read it too, because we all need to know what transmisogyny affected people are constantly going thru and how much danger we can present to them and how we fail them as bystanders

Just a reminder: Questioning people are always welcome in the aspec community

Stay, have fun, learn, ask questions, this is a safe place to explore your labels!

I know everything can feel overwhelming.

Don’t feel bad if you end up discovering you are or aren’t aspec. There’s nothing wrong with deciding a label isn’t for you after all, either way you’re not wasting anyone’s time.

We’re here to give you resources and support and a listening ear!

Never forget that the Q in LGBTQIA+ stands for both queer and questioning 💜💚

Before Pride Month really hits, here's a quick reminder that it's completely normal to pick up or shed different labels over the years. You learn new things about yourself and the queer community, you're probably not the same person you were when you started your queer journey. Maybe you cut your hair or got that tattoo you always wanted or listen to other music. A lot might've changed, so why should labels be exempt from that?

Or maybe you're not yet sure which label fits you - the same way you haven't made up your mind which clothing style you like best. Maybe you're hoarding a whole bunch of labels or maybe you don't care much about labels at all and are just vibing. Either way, I hope you all enjoy the pride festivities whichever way you prefer.

Sincerely, your friendly neighbourhood queer (who used to identify as straight, then pan, now bi and as of now is still questioning my position on the ace spectrum and has given up on labeling their gender).

The commercial visibility of Pride over the past few years has often excluded the voices of those most marginalized.

happy pride month to asexuals and aromantics and everything in between. i want each and everyone of you to know that you are loved and cherished by the community even though there are some who try to diminish us. you are a valued, important, and valid part of the lgbtqia+ community. thank you for simply existing this pride 🏳️‍🌈🖤🤍💜🖤🤍💚

it's pride month so i just wanted to send my love and support to all asexuals here. it took me a few years to figure out that i am actually ace. those were confusing times, but now i'm finally at peace with this part of myself and i wish you all the same 🖤🩶🤍💜

HAPPY PRIDE MONTH Y’ALL! 🌈 I’ve been building a flock of pride inspired birds to explore some pride mindfullness going into June this year. Support the LGBTQIA+ Flock all this month by supporting Queer Folks by standing up to anti-LGBTQ and anti-Trans legislation, buying from LGBTQ+ owned shops and artists, and celebrating LGBTQIA+ voices and history. There are a ton of great queer organizations out there to support @pointofprideorg is one of many to check out. Thank you! Love to y’all. 💖
