We need to talk about Theon.

This show has taken us on a lot of wild rides when it comes to character development. But if you had told me in season 1 that my favorite character at the end of all this would be Theon Fucking Greyjoy I would’ve laughed for about 6 days straight. And yet, here we are.

This man, a boy who was taken from his home at a young age, who was raised alongside the Starks, his siblings bound by love, not blood, who was the ward and honorary son of Eddard Stark, has come such a long way. Because let’s be honest, even before he betrayed Robb, he was annoying af. Then he went running off to the Iron Islands, betrayed the Starks (who had been nothing but kind to him), and all to please a father who was so unloving he would barely acknowledge him as his son.

And along came Ramsay Snow, who was honestly one of the most terrifying people in all of Westeros.. Theon’s scenes with Ramsay almost made me stop watching the show. I cried through all of them. They were horrifying, every single one of them. Watching Theon’s transformation into Reek was one of the most difficult things this show put us through, because even though he’d been a shithead, and even though he’d done horrible things, he was losing all of his humanity. It was heartbreaking, and how can anyone help but start to root for a man who’s hardly a person at all anymore?

His character arc from Reek to man who died saving Bran in 8.03 was absolutely spectacular, and most importantly, not at all linear. It was clear that he still cared about Sansa after the scene on her wedding night, yet he still betrayed her when she asked him to light the candle in the window. He saved Sansa from the Bolton’s, got her to safety (by Westeros standards), and seemed to be on the up-and-up again by the time he got back to the Iron Islands… and then he abandoned Yara when she needed him most, only to finally come back for her. It’s one of the most realistic arcs in the whole story because it shows us that change is gradual. There will be triumphs. There will be mistakes. Nobody is perfect.

Theon was complicated, tormented, and haunted by his past both physically and mentally. But all of those things, as Bran said, led him to where he finally ended up: at Winterfell, his home.

Honestly, Theon was a lot of things over the years. A coward. A traitor. A usurper. A murderer. A victim of torture. A snitch. He was all of these things, and many more. But he died a hero, defending the family he loved, and that is how he will be remembered.

Thank you Theon.

A Greyjoy.

A Stark.

A Hero of the Battle of Winterfell.

You will be missed.

Let black women be angry about Captain Marvel.

The movie not acknowledging Monica Rambeau as the original Captain Marvel is still disrespectful and MCU needs to be called out. It’s not “pitting women against each other”. No one is hating Carol or saying the movie is bad. I’m a black woman myself and I love it. But it’s tiring how DC has Wonder Woman, WW 84, Harley Quinn movie, Supergirl, soon Stargirl, and Marvel has Captain Marvel, Agent Carter, and soon Black Widow, Fox has Dark Phoenix. Meanwhile black women have NOTHING. Black female superheroes are seen as the co-stars of a white woman or black man’s movie/T.V. show. We’re rarely the lead.

There are four handfuls of black female superheroes. Storm, Vixen, Rockette, Bumblebee, Tiffany Fox, Moon Girl, Nubia, and many more. But all three movie companies aren’t not giving them the same star power as white female superheroes. We have a six-episode special of Vixen and a T.V. special of Riri Williams/Ironheart, but it’s not enough. It’s not hate, it’s pointing out the truth.

Not every woman is white and thin and media needs to reflect that.

I think we should all love Captain Marvel because it’s a step in getting more women represented in the media, which will lead to even more representation. We can also be angry at it because it is another movie that doesn’t star a black woman. I like that this post is saying that women aren’t being pitted against each other, because that is the very last thing I want. We can stand together and love this movie and use it to call for more diversity in media. I think it’s hard for us to hear that Captain Marvel isn’t a perfect movie since we love it, but it’s important to notice issues like this so we can best support our sisters. A small ray of hope is that there could be a chance we get Photon in the next Captain Marvel, and maybe that could lead to her own movie if we continue to fight for it.

Captain marvel spoilers

The final “battle” in Captain Marvel was such an amazing metaphor.

Her male superior wanted her to fight (debate) him without showing emotion. He wanted her to do things to his specific set of rules, even though they don’t make any sense. He wanted her to fulfil a specific set of criteria in order to take her seriously, even though she could do the job perfectly well. He changed the rules on her because she started winning.

And every woman, or person in any other marginalised group, knows that feeling. Of not being taken seriously in your opinions because you’re not playing by the bullshit rules that have no real meaning. Because you’re too emotional. Using your own past and experiences to fuel that emotion. And we know the feeling of being told that it’s a weakness.

In the cinema, I was worried that she was going to play by his rules. I sat, recognising that exact moment for what it was, and I was worried that she was going to give in and play by the rules he was trying to give her.

But she didn’t.

She did the perfect thing in response. She used the strength she actually had, because she’d surpassed him and it didn’t matter any more if he respected her, or if he approved. She didn’t need to play by his rules any more.

And as a woman, I really needed to see that.

Captain Marvel: So then he was all ‘I told you- you’re never going to be able to control yourself until you can put me on the floor without using your powers’-

Captain America: So you turned them off and kicked his ass anyway?

Captain Marvel: No lol what the fuck I’m not a dumbass, I just shot him. Who the fuck would listen to a villain trying to do his best to win a fight?

Captain America, sweating, remembering the fight with Batroc in which he stowed away his shield and dropped his helmet bc Batroc Asked Him To: Hah lol ikr….. who’d do that…idiots…

The best thing about captain marvel is she’s not just a “token” female superhero. Her gender is a key aspect of her origin story. The entire movie she being told to stay down, to control herself, to be less than she can be. She’s being manipulated into believing she needs to “fight with one hand tied behind [her] back.” She becomes a hero when she finally lets go of all that and embraces the full scope of her power. When she remembers how to get back up again and fight. When she no longer feels obligated to prove herself to those who would keep her down. That isn’t just a hero story that’s a woman story. And it started the entire marvel franchise. Incredible.

“Oh you’re asexual? I bet you just want attention.”

You’re damn right I want attention.

I want attention so that every teenager who’s not interested in sex doesn’t feel like they’re broken.

I want attention so that every asexual with an allosexual spouse doesn’t feel like they’re being unfair for not wanting sex.

I want attention so that every asexual who’s repulsed by or indifferent to sex doesn’t think they’re the problem.

I want attention so that asexuals don’t get pushed out of LGBT+ safe spaces for being “basically straight”.

I want attention so that asexuals who come out to their health care providers don’t get told they need to get their hormone levels checked.

I want attention so that asexuals don’t get called “frigid”.

I want attention so that asexual storylines in media don’t turn into “fix it” storylines.

I want attention so that asexuals stop hearing “you just haven’t met the right person yet.”

I want attention so ace-specs like demisexuals stop hearing “that’s just how everyone is.”

I want attention so that asexuals stop suffering corrective rape to “cure” us.

I want attention so people stop accusing me of being asexual just to be “different”.

I want attention so I can have respect.

One of the more perplexing habits of LGBTA gatekeepers - and I’m thinking of anti-bi/ace gatekeepers in particular - is their use of the word “ahistorical”.

It seems like they’re trying to position the community’s present boundaries - or their interpretation of those boundaries, at any rate - as some sort of eternal status quo, and dismissing any evidence to the contrary as “ahistorical”.

But… those boundaries have always been in flux.

Within my own lifetime, lesbians have gone from being regarded as outsiders and unwelcome parasites in the gay community to being so normalised that the very notion they wouldn’t count as members of that community would be regarded by most as faintly comical. During that same span, trans folks have been kicked out and (grudgingly) readmitted on multiple occasions. Indeed, just a couple of years ago, the very same crowd who are now railing against “cishet ace invaders” were loudly proclaiming “A IS FOR ASEXUAL, NOT ALLIES”.

The status quo is an illusion of the moment.

That thing you’re calling “ahistorical”?

That’s history.

‘straight passing privilege’ and ‘cis passing privilege’ don’t exist. What’s happening is called erasure, it’s not privilege, it’s part of oppression and a result of heteronormativity and cisnormativity. It isn’t privilege to have your orientation and gender constantly assumed wrongly, it isn’t a privilege to be erased and treated like you don’t exist.

That’s the tea sis.

Someone asked “Fred Weasley is bisexual and aroflux /H”

(Showed up in activity feed, but not our inbox.)

One of Fred’s personal projects when he and George open their shop is to finally create his line of bi joke products. It includes a powder inspired by Peruvian Instant Darkness Powder that, when thrown, creates a pink, purple, and blue cloud of smoke that allows the user to escape from biphobic people and situations. (It becomes so popular that he creates powders in as many pride colors as he can.) He also has sweets that will become near impossible to chew if the person eating them starts to say something queerphobic. And he makes ridiculous pink, blue, and purple hats that spout bi puns and proclaim their wearer’s pride at anyone they pass. These become popular at parades, and a few get confiscated by the Ministry because they were worn to muggle pride events. Muggles grew suspicious when the funny hats started giving intelligent answers to questions asked of the wearer.

He starts getting requests from his friends in the a-spec community, so he starts a line just for them. Aros love the mini “bow and aro” sets that shoot (harmless) arrows that trail green, white, grey, and black smoke. Aces love the decks of cards (nothing but aces of course) where each card can be thrown into the air and it will fold itself into an origami dragon that glides back down. During the next year’s Ace Awareness Week a student walks to the middle of the Great Hall during breakfast, yells ACES WILD, and throws the entire deck.

Fred’s favorite thing is when customers come in and tell him what shenanigans they got into with his products.
