Although often taken for granted, Google Earth is an incredible feat accomplished by mankind that people 300 years ago would have considered completely mental.
One day somebody just decided ‘hey we have the technology now to photograph the entire surface of the planet, stitch those together into a single cohesive digital representation of the earth, make the whole damn thing searchable to find any location you want, and then add an AI that can figure out the best ways to get from any point you choose to any other point you choose.
And then they fucking made it happen.
And then they gave it to the world for free.
