Y’all talk about how you want rich people to pay their share so people can live better lives but then knock the one guy who wants to skip the government middle man and poverty requirements by putting guaranteed income directly into your hands.
I’m watching the democratic debate cos i don’t have work tomorrow. anyway im so glad someone finally said it. Warren’s wealth tax will not work. Rich people are very good at dodging taxes. They’re also difficult to administrate. The VAT is a much better solution - especially combined with other progressive proposals on offer. It’s doesn’t even have to be as high as the one we have in the UK for the USA to get some cash.
Everybody talking about Bernie when y’all need to be looking into Andrew Yang and his policies instead. He’s one of the only persons that’s actually talking sense and has actual plans and solutions to some of our major economic issues.
oh to be a bored prince who keeps rejecting marriage proposals due to being secretly in love with the cute gardener boy
oh to be a cute gardener boy who secretely places roses in the prince's room because he is in love with him
Oh to be the palace guard who discreetly helps to boost the cute gardener boy up the wall for his secret deliveries in the middle of the night
Oh to be the prince's best friend witnessing the two fools dance around each other while knowing damn well that the two like each other.
Oh to be the noble suitor from another royal family who comes to know of their love instantly and plans an entire plan to get them their happy ending
oh to be a medieval peasant who knows nothing about the prince's personal life and who dies of dysentry at age 23
oh to be a monk getting STUPID shitfaced off of monestary wine after transcribing the bible for the 547th time (despite being illiterate)
Check if your city has this program!!!
Please boost this!!!
Lyft does not know how the fuck to make this accessible. Their entire explanation of how to use it, which people on Twitter had to keep asking them for, was:
"We're working with several partners to serve different communities around the country. @UnitedWay offers immediate assistance and access to rides at https://t.co/bNqtYzSOz9. For info on how to work with our other partners, check out https://t.co/yyaIw36gKT"
Basically... go through their links to every different agency... contact each of them... and ask each of them how to do it?
Fortunately, the United Way (which runs 211) was a little clearer.
Basically, if you're in one of these cities:
Atlanta, GA
Austin, TX
Baltimore, MD
Boston, MA
Cleveland, OH
Cincinnati, OH
Denver, CO
Des Moines, IA
Detroit, MI
Houston, TX
Jacksonville, FL
Louisville, KY
Minneapolis, MN
Omaha, NE
Philadelphia, PA
Pittsburgh, PA
Salt Lake City, UT
San Diego, CA
San Francisco Bay Area, CA
Springfield, MA
St. Louis, MO
Tacoma, WA
Tallahassee, FL
Tampa Bay Area, FL
Ventura, CA
You can call 211, or text 898211, to ask about the program. (Tbh they'll probably make you call, to ask you a few questions so they know if you qualify.) Then they'll tell you what to do to use it.
You can also take the opportunity to ask about anything else you might need help with, like interview clothes, food, utility bills, etc. They're basically there to connect you with all the resources.
Please reblog this version instead as it's more useful! Thanks for letting us know.
He’s so fucking funny

with the new round of JK rowling being a transphobic prick rolling out, I think it’s important to reference what I call the H.P. Lovecraft rule. Fans of Lovecraft’s stuff openly acknowledge that he was remarkably racist and that his shitty beliefs bled into his work, whether through metaphors or more blatant pieces of the text, while also enjoying the monster concepts and such that he created. They use critical thinking when approaching his work and acknowledge . In my opinion, it’s fine for people to still like Harry Potter, it’s just important to acknowledge that the Rowling’s own shitty beliefs also bled into her work (the house elves ‘enjoying’ slavery, the sexism, the antisemitism with the goblins, laughable attempt at gay inclusion, lycanthropy being compared to AIDS, etc.). I really don’t think it’s bad for anyone to still enjoy the franchise, it’s just really important to use critical thinking when consuming it, which is true of any media really.
Also I know there are people who are going to drop it all together, and honestly valid, can’t blame ya, it’s just that I saw a post saying ‘you can’t separate it from her beliefs!’ and I just wanted to point out the truth in that while ALSO pointing out that it doesn’t mean people have to quit it altogether - they just need to be smart in their consumption. If someone says something along the lines of, “JK Rowling sucks but the series is still perfect, I’ll just pretend she didn’t write it,” then that’s not critical thinking. That’s just trying to make yourself feel better and pretend there’s nothing wrong with it instead of admitting there are things absolutely wrong with it and that the thing you like is flawed.
He is my match.
↪ THE UNTAMED (2019)《陈情令》
Reminder to watch “The Untamed” (Netflix and Viki)
You know what? No. No, Hatsune Miku did not write Harry Potter.
J. K. Rowling wrote Harry Potter. And we need to accept that.
Harry Potter isn’t some pure unproblematic beacon of perfection that we can just choose to erase the scummy author from and enjoy without guilt. Harry Potter is very much rooted in Rowling’s view of the world. The blatant antisemitism in the portrayal of the goblins, the entire race of slave creatures that actually really like being slaves and Hermione’s attempts to free them are largely played off as a joke, the almost complete dearth of canon characters of color (and then when she does put canonical characters of color in, they’re… Nagini…), the complete lack of respect for other cultures (the Japanese wizarding school literally translates to “Magic Place” in Japanese, Cho Chang is not even remotely a proper Chinese name, don’t get me started on her usage of Native American folklore), the almost complete lack of LGBTQ+ characters, the “Dumbledore is gay!” baiting, the lycanthropy-as-HIV metaphor that involves one of the werewolves intentionally infecting as many people as he can, with a preference for targeting children, no less…
These are all very much present in Harry Potter. They’re not things you can just ignore. And they’re there because Rowling wrote them in.
I know you read Harry Potter as a kid and loved it. I know when you read Harry Potter as a kid you probably didn’t even notice how shitty all this stuff was. I certainly didn’t. But you can’t go back to that time. You can’t go back to when you were 10, when you were consuming this media and loving it uncritically without notice or regard for its more problematic elements. You can’t go back to being a kid again.
And that’s okay. It doesn’t mean you’re required to wholeheartedly condemn this important part of your childhood. You can still enjoy these books while acknowledging that they’ve got some really shitty things in them. You can enjoy Harry Potter as a mature adult. You don’t have to be a kid again to like it. And you’re perfectly allowed to hate on Rowling for her shittiness, past and present, while still loving Harry Potter.
So don’t say Harry Potter was written by Hatsune Miku. It wasn’t. It was written by J. K. Rowling, warts and all.
Update:
My health has taken an aggressive decline.
I’ve been at the cancer center getting bloodwork and tests done to try and just figure what the fuck is going on. My body is shutting down and is basically eating itself and running on nothing. I have muscle loss and major weight loss (15 pounds in one month) severe memory loss, fatigue, my organs are randomly shutting down from reactions, and more scary ass shit. My immune system has always been compromised but it’s more aggressively and consistently effecting me.
I look like a ghost of myself and I feel like a ghost of myself,
I truly feel like I’m on a timeline for my life. I’m scared. I’m going through this alone.
I’m non stop seeing specialists (that I can’t afford) but it’s either that, or die.
I’m not doing well
My flare ups are extremely painful and unbearable. My joints swell up to the point that my skin splits. I get severe eczema on my face, hands, and neck whenever I get stressed to the point that it scars. If I get cuts or wounds they won’t heal or it takes months and months. I have LISTS of symptoms that are effecting me and debilitating. This has been happening for a year and half and has only gotten more aggressive with time. My flare ups are weekly now, not every other month. It’s exhausting, scary, painful, and hurtful. It’s isolating and depressing. Trust me ID RATHER BE LIVING MY LIFE and NOT stuck to my bed.
I don’t know what else to say. Or to show. This is embarrassing and I feel gross. My shoulders are bigger than my arms, it’s hard to even walk up stairs somedays. I’m the weakest I’ve ever been.
I do not have control over what’s happening to my body. So here it is.
I HAVE FOUR MAJOR APPOINTMENTS THIS MONTH, AND NO MONEY FOR RENT OR TRANSPORTATION/BILLS, PLEASE HELP ME‼️
I just had my appointment with my disability lawyer and he said it’ll take a year, if we’re lucky. I have nothing. PLEASE BOOST MY GOFUNDME AND MY LINKS‼️‼️ THIS IS MY ONLY SOURCE OF SURVIVAL
IF YOUD LIKE TO IMMEDIATELY/DIRECTLY HELP ME WITH MED COSTS OR FOOD ID APPRECIATE IT MORE THAN YOU KNOW! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
