Hi!

You know how the primary Deltarune subreddit, r/deltarune, is rather virulent and not very kind? It can be transphobic, overly sexual, and generally just not that pleasant a place to be: So I've created an alternative subreddit, a sort of safe space, called r/ColorCafe!

It features rules such as "don't misgender characters. if you do by accident it's that's fine, but don't get pissy and start arguing if somebody corrects you, we are here to discuss deltarune not debate our existence. just fix it and move on" :D

It's still a little bit under construction, but I've got all the basics down and now it comes down to user feedback! I'd really appreciate it if you were to stop by and see if it interests you!

every time toby fox includes ralsei in his doodles or mentions him offhand my heart is filled with glee. that's the little guy! that's the special little guy!

Ha! I knew it!

I don't remember which of the millions of theory vids it was, but I remember a video discussing possible influences and inspirations that Toby may have used, and they mentioned Final Fantasy, and they had this screencap (I don't remember which FF game it was, I haven't played very much FF- I know, shocking) of dialogue that mentioned a "Prince Ralse", and I remember thinking at the time that had to be where Toby came up with Ralsei.

Interesting that Frisk's- the player character's- name was originally Ralse... and now, Ralsei is the character who is basing his entire identity on being the player character's guide and conscience.

Based on Toby's comment up there, that was not planned. It just worked out that way. Just like how, it would seem, Ralse ended up being perfect for a Dark World version of Azzy because Toby only needed to add an "i" to turn "Ralse" into an anagram of "Asriel."

But man, I'll tell ya, I wish I was in Toby's inner circle. Just because I have never heard of, much less met, anybody who has as many "just worked out that way" things happen as what this guy has had in just two games. And the second one isn't even half-finished!!! Toby got some major creative mojo going on, I'm tellin' ya.

Frisk's name wasn't originally Ralse. This post isn't about Undertale at all.
