decided to completely ignore the revelation that curzon was in love with jadzia (stupid all around, i will not abide) because curzon was actually in unspoken love with sisko which is why jadzia dax has a latent sisko-traction and also calls him full name "benjamin" all the time and sometimes looks pained as well as fond when sisko calls her "old man." happy pride.

#my controversial take (perhaps/according to some things ive seen in this fandom) relates to how people try to 1-2-1 map linear human age#onto science fiction alien species and concepts of reincarnation and generally things that are more complex by their nature#anyway curzon and sisko were literally equals and jadzia carries a singular lifetime and a series of lifetimes AND a worm lifetime#(whatever that looks like)#i wonder if these tags relate to jadzia and sisko but again see above + for that matter you werent even saying they were in a relationship#(not that it would matter if you did beyond *id love to hear more headcanon*)#I had a similar response in relation to another character i cannot talk about yet#... also cannot say at this moment but once you've finished the whole show i have been WAITING on your opinion on some things#related to trill lifetimes#because you've already touched on some really interesting things in ways that make me want to go YES AND!!! but not yet#but yeah curzon was in love with sisko signed sealed am into that hc 100%#jadzia dax#benjamin sisko#curzon dax#ds9#st: ds9#star trek

remember that time that spock said “this is about sex” but he couldn’t say sex so instead he said “biology” and kirk clearly knew what he meant but was awkwardly like “what kind of biology” and spock got this look on his face like ‘oh lordy i’m not dealing with this today’ and said “vulcan biology” and kirk can’t say the word sex either so he goes “u mean the biology of vulcans” and then they stood there in silence for ten seconds like a pair of fucking idiots

Does it ever just...wear on you a bit that for a long running media with lots of iterations like Star Trek every possible heterosexual pairing that can happen will happen at some point, but we are still left totally out in the cold with gay relationships?

Like sure, we're going to give the rarepair Kirk x that one extra from S1E12 shippers the closure they were looking for after 50 years. We're going to pair Spock with every single women on the bridge. Every single possible straight pairing will be tried.

But godforbid we get to Uhura (who canonically is very open sexually in the original series) kiss a woman. God forbid Kirk flirt with a man. Spock? Gay feelings? SURELY YOU JEST. Not in my television show, sir.

This isn't even about big ships like K/S, I'm talking about causally queer, one-off shit here! Every day indications of queerness instead of the constantly weighty "a very special episode" tripe that we usually get whenever anyone deigns to stray from the heterosexual norm.

#lower decks is doing this better than any other of the new treks -- i say having not seen prodigy yet so forgive me if i am slandering#i DO btw appreciate the amount of queer actors playing queer characters in disco#but it's true that they also exist in a complicated space where#These Are Your Designated Queer Characters (who are also in set monogamous relationships except for the one whose wife has died)#(and that's as far as we'll explore that)#rather than what happens everywhere else as you say -- trying out Every Configuration of heterosexual monogamous pair-up#you've got two trans actors in disco and beyond the season they were introduced in there hasn't been anything funky happening with gender??#there's more out queer actors in disco than there are queer main characters ironically#ds9 was more funky with gender purely by being curious about alien futuristic concepts#why is heterosexuality still Everywhere and queerness is limited to These Special Characters#again lower decks trying to push against this more#star trek#st negativity#st meta
