yesterday it was announced that the Dutch singer is suspended. social media made him a hero and everyone said it was because of Israel and other artists should quite the competition in solidarity. today it was announced he is being investigated by police after he had a physical altercation with a female Swedish production worker. all of social media are bending backwards to still make it somehow Israel's fault. these people are insane.
I mean, I’m going back to WWII documentaries but we’ve all seen completely unhinged newspapers, radio programs etc broadcast during that time. And we’ve all wondered how people could listen to that without questioning it. Now we know 🤷♀️

Je pense qu’il y a chez eux la conviction d’être plus intelligents que « les masses » qu’ils prétendent défendre. J’ai déjà raconté cette anecdote mais quand j’étais en fac, les syndicalistes étaient persuadés que si les « jeunes des quartiers » ne manifestaient pas avec eux c’était parce qu’ils n’étaient pas politisés et qu’ils devaient - en gros - aller leur prêcher la bonne parole. Ils étaient incapable de penser que ces jeunes puissent être politisés mais juste pas intéressés.
Les communistes iraniens étaient persuadés que les islamistes n’avaient pas les outils théoriques pour construire et faire tenir un état moderne. Et que naturellement après la révolution, le pouvoir leur reviendrait. Les gauchistes de chez nous font le même calcul. C’est parfaitement cynique chez les cadres.
Chez les militants il y a beaucoup de naïveté et d’envie profonde de bien faire. Ils sont très culturellement catho dans cette idée là et c’est ce qui a sous-tendu bien des actions associatives.

Yeah me neither. Beyond antisemitism I think stupidity is definitely a factor. They can’t place Israel on a map either but they know that’s where a lot of Jews are and that’s enough. But a country in Central Asia? I mean what language do they speak, what’s their religion, where are they on the oppression scale ? We could also speak about what’s been happening in Sudan, but again where is Sudan and there, it’s Arab militias massacring civilians. 15,000 this year and up to 300,000 during the Darfur war.
Nobody will occupy colleges for Sudanese children. It’s never been about the children or the civilians. Which is an absolute tragedy. Real people are victims of this conflict and they deserve so much better.
