I have an end-of-life patient to whom I spoke today. She burst out laughing and said, "It was all such fun. I just had so much fun." I wish this for everyone. I wish that we each would meet death laughing, with little regret and even less fear.

It makes me smile every time I see someone reblog this post with commentary about how it made them happy or changed how they look at life and death. This little old lady had no idea how much warmth and comfort she brought to thousands.

Tumblr has a lot of problems but seeing posts that say things along the lines of "being trans is so cool and sexy actually" over and over and over again made me genuinely believe it. Being trans is so cool. You are given the gift of life, and despite hateful backlash and the tremendous amount of work and bridges you will burn, you still would rather be your authentic self.

It's my Machine God given right to have a little arsenal of explosives and bullets that I have done wicked little upgrades to. This landmine teleports everything in the blast radius 10ft straight up. This .22 is superheated prior to firing. I filled my shotgun shells with radioactive waste. I've got a 40mm grenade that unleashes a starving extradimensional octopus when it detonates. This flintlock pistol shoots a hypermagnetized round that will accelerate metal debris into you until you're impaled or crushed by the accumulating mass. I need access to chemicals and industrial machinery so bad.

i don't know how to explain it exactly but my favorite thing about the end is something about it feels existentially horrifying in a way the other two dimensions don't, and the emptiness is a huge part of why

the other two dimensions are full of ruins and treasure and echoes of long-dead civilizations that had values and purpose and goals they were trying to achieve. there's a real sense that they're ruins now because they were destroyed, or abandoned, or taken over

the end cities don't feel like that. they aren't even ruins. they're just empty. it feels less like their inhabitants fled or died out and more like they just...stopped
