STEPHANIE ROMANOV as LILAH MORGAN — in Angel The Series
“It’s a survival thing. I made a lot of devil’s bargains and I stuck to them. As a result, I live somewhat dangerously, and *quite* comfortably. My mother, who no longer recognizes me, has the best room at the clinic. I get up every morning, put on my game face and do what I have to.”
EXT. PLAYGROUND - DAY
…swings, carousel, sandbox. Buffy sits in the sand box, idly digging sand with a little plastic shovel. Giles and Spike (who is dressed in a tweedy suit kind of like Giles') sit on the swings.

monolith: a comic for aapi heritage month 2022
Image description: The first image shows a person in front of 2 flags, the korean and the one from the philippines. Text on the panel reads: "From a young age, I was acutely aware of how coming from two hertiages affected my identity, and how it splintered my sense of belonging" Korea and the phillipines are two entirely different worlds, and I often felt like two halves of a mismatched whole."
The next panels shows two people talking. Orange says: "I really related to that part where-" Blue says: "Wait, wait, wait-" Blue then says: "Wdym "relate"? That post you sent is about multi-racial identity..." Orange says: "Well yeah! I´m korean and filipino. I thought you knew?" Blue says: "And? Both of those are asian. You´re just asian." Orange is shown with an uncomfortable expression. "But it never occured to me that others might not even view my situation the same way."
A pie graph showing 60% marked in blue. "It´s funny how asians are described as a "minority" when we make up the majority (nearly 60%) of the global population." Orange thinks: "They have a point, "asian" is the same race... and yet..." "But maybe that has to do with the fact that the label "asian" contains a vast number of identities in itself. The oversimplication of my identity to "just asian" speaks to one of the great misconceptions about our world: the idea that asians are a monolith." A korean person and a filipino person next to eachother. "In reality, it´s hard to find two asian countries (or even countries!) more different than korea and the philippines." Many small blue umbrellas underneath an orange umbrella. "Yet koreans, filippinos and dozen of other cultures are swept under the same absurdly large umbrella of "asian". "Asian" means different things and referes to different people. It´s a word that unites us, but we aren´t all the same. These generalizations erease our diversity and the beauty that is unique to each of us."
The person carrying two flags the korean and the one of the philippines. They are smiling. "Recognition is important. It´s the first step towards respect. And if the world doesn´t see us just yet - we´re just going to have to make them look our way!" end Image description
