i love how you guys talk shit about cartoon style and animation but what the fuck is with this phineas and ferb obsession, The Ugliest Childrens Show Ever Animated.

Fun fact: In one interview the creators mentioned that one reason everyone’s heads are shaped like really recognizable shapes (Candace is the letter p, Phineas is obviously just a triangle) is so its way easier for younger kids to draw them. Not being able to to draw your favorite characters when you’re little can be really frustrating and kind of put you off drawing all together.

I got to speak with the creators in their studio years ago when P&F was still being created and they said at dinner one night they challenged themselves to design a character with a triangle shaped head. Right there on the paper tablecloth (the kind restaurants provide with crayons for kids to draw on), they drew the very first Phineas, then realized he needed acompanion, and thus with a rectangle, they drew the first Ferb.

Dan & Swampy are incredibly kind men who wanted to create a show that was easy for kids to recognize and participate in, while having fun antics for anyone of all ages.

It’s not even that ugly, it’s got funny shapes sure, but the colors and character designs are bright and fantastically fun, and the show’s writing was completely clever.

I detailed in a long post once how they left most of the dialogue up to the animators: they had a basic outline of how each episode would go, and as the animators would draw it out (they didn’t use puppets folks, they used cintiq tablets and drew everything, I saw it first-hand) and as they were drawing they’d think “what would this character be saying while making this gesture?” and that’s how the dialogue was created. The animators also worked in pairs, so they always had a companion to talk to, work with, and help with dialogue as they went. This is how most of the jokes were created, and as they had multiple animator teams, they were able to keep jokes and dialogue very fresh so the show never stagnated from using only the same couple of writers like most shows do.

For the songs Dan & Swampy themselves would pull a guitar off wall, go into the meeting room and gather anyone around, and just come up with songs on the spot right there. They would sit for a couple of hours messing around gathering input from anyone and everyone. This kept the songs fun and fresh and also kept them from stagnating or becoming boring.

Phineas and Ferb was made in a very rewarding, fun environment. Everyone who worked in the studio seemed very happy, and they loved having visitors and getting to show off and explain every aspect of the show. Everyone was kind and fun and just loved their job. I genuinely can’t accept seeing anyone saying negative things about a show that was intrinsically meant to be gratifying, fun, and wonderful for kids and adults of all ages, and stuck to that mindset throughout its entire creation process.

Edit: I forgot to add one of my favorite parts! The creators knew their animators so well that they could tell who designed which episode! To each person watching, it’s difficult to tell differences in style since it’s meant to all look the same, but the creators looked at some clips in front of us and guessed which animator pair did the clips and then they double-checked it and were correct, pointing out extremely minute details that were recognizable trademarks for each team. Clearly they had a very kind and caring and friendly environment!

GOD LITERALLY in the early 2000s ppl were so self conscious about their fat asses literally everyone just wanted to have no butt and literally 10 yrs later if u have a flat ass you might as well wear a paper bag over your whole fucking body and it well & truly sucks that womens bodies go in and out of fashion like this like tf are we supposed to do? spend all our time obsessing over the minutiae of our physiques? get plastic surgery every 5-10 yrs to make sure our bodies can keep up & b warped with the trends of objectification? like what the fuck do you want from women ?

i’ve noticed that with specifically butts and eyebrows and makeup and fashion in general, it’s always poc’s culture that is first looked down upon, seen as “ghetto” or bad, then a few years later, it becomes acceptable as soon as white people adopt it, and never give us credit for starting the trend

the argument marauder stans always make about James being accepting of Lupin and Sirius and being always there for them baffles me because like....,, that doesn't mean he was an accepting person as a whole. it means he was accepting of those 2 particular people

because if he was a generally accepting person he wouldn't bully someone because he was from Slytherin? or because he 'exists'? if he was an accepting person he wouldn't pick on the evidently poor and neglected boy since day 1, and while it's admirable that he accepted Lupin with his condition and didn't turn him away, i can't admire him for being there for someone marginalized when he bullied someone else exactly because he was marginalized himself. he gets a thumb up for supporting his werewolf friend but overall as a person he doesn't stand for tolerance and acceptance. same goes for Sirius

Saw a post where someone says Thomas Sanders “is almost 30 and actively encourages minors to send nsfw art.”

Found out that what actually happened was that a kid who purposefully took their age out of their bio before submitting the art because they were afraid Thomas might get in trouble later forgot about it and re added their age and then people went digging through Thomas’ blog after he made an ace positive post and found it. Dog pile ensues. Thomas apologizes for mistake and says he should have found out the person’s age before publishing.

Y'all have GOT to stop acting like a fucking gaggle of church gossips about this stuff. There is a universe of difference between accidentally accepting something from a minor and ACTIVELY ENCOURAGING it. But someone uses that phrasing and it just gets repeated and twisted even after the minor in question explains what happened.

People already act suspicious of gay men that are just “too” nice and I’m so tired of people constantly looking to prove someone is actually the worst kind of person ever just because they don’t agree with them.

Back up your arguments rather than digging for unrelated dirt.

Every time MacDoesIt uploads his titles put me through several moral dilemmas

I just saw a post that briefed over Snape (and how he was a horrible person,) but it was mainly about the marauders so I didn't want to reblog it yada yada yada. Here are some of the points this person made, and my reactions/replies.

1. "The marauders were feminists." Oh right, fuck yeah. Because it's not like James catcalled Lily every time he fucking saw her, is it? And it's not like he tried blackmail her into dating him, is it? Feminist my ass. He's the kind of guy who would go around saying women deserved to stay at home looking after the kids while he went out to work. Same goes for Sirius, Remus and Peter were too much of cowards to do anything else.

2. "Snape wasn't actually smart and he just stole everything he knows of potions from James." First of, wheres your fucking proof?? Second of, there is no way James would of predicted the future of potions. If he had, he could be rich, and Snape wouldn't of been of any value after they graduated because he wouldn't have anyone to copy from.

3. "James never repetitively asked Lily out. Once she said no he left her and they eventually moulded together." First of, literal canon goes against you, second of, this is James "I'll leave ol' snivelly alone if you go on a date with me Evans" Potter. By the way, that is sexism and blackmail. If a man did that now in England he would go to fucking jail, or at least go to court.

4. "The marauders never did anything wrong." Right, so attempted murder, blackmail, sexual assault, catcalling and relentless bullying and abusing, is "nothing"? Whoopee! Next the Marauder stannies will be saying Bellatrix was just misunderstood and she was actually good all along!

5. "Sirius Black stood up for abused and bullied kids." Fuck off. Again, PROOF. He was a tormentor all through school. He relentlessly abused a poor kid, already abused by his family, and bullied other students for the entirety of seven years. Just because he was given a slap on the cheek every now and then, (nothing worse from his parents, besides tough love. People exaggerate it.) Does not excuse him to abuse other people his age and younger, does it? That's hypocritical if you think that, because you usually use this argument for why Snape's a shitty person.

But Snape was an adult, I hear you say? Sirius Black turned seventeen the November of sixth year. He was an adult, too. And I can bet you he hexed some poor first year Slytherins for no reason other than their house. Plus, Snape never hexed a student. Ever. He took points. He didn't even yell. I would much rather run into an angry Snape than a normal Sirius Black if I was wearing Slytherin robes.

You've probably seen my other donation posts but they haven't done anything yet. I'm a 19 year old mentally ill trans guy and I need help to put my dad to rest.

long story short: my family won't help me because I'm trans and I need 800$ to be able to bury my dad

he passed away in April and I crossed the country to continue with school. I started to medically transition and now the only contact I have with my family is to try to "fix" me.

I'm getting kicked out tomorrow morning and I have to leave my job because of it. I'm trying to find a job and a place to live, which will cost me at least $500. I need to pay for gas, phone bill ($115+), food, insurance. and I'm struggling just to do that.
