Countries definitely love it when you go around minting a competing currency within their borders. This will go well and see no complications.

I’m curious as to where you all stand
Reblog for demographics!
Has either union called for a boycott? Because boycotting can disrupt their plans and make negotiations harder unless they’re actively asking for one. I’m boycotting reality TV (which every studio is going to be pushing because it’s the only content they can make cheaply and without writers or professional actors) but nothing else unless we are asked to.
#i always understood that boycotts and strikes were sort of two opposing strategies#if a strike is happening you want demand to continue as normal because the point is to prove what would happen without your labor#a boycott is reducing demand and the point is usually in response to a practice that cant be solved by employees walking out#for instance a boycott might be ideal for protesting AI generated content (via @displacedlabrat)
This is correct. If anything, I want the execs to be terrified because the consumers are demanding more from them and they have nothing in their reserves to sell and no way of making anything else to sell.
Also "new" content is going to keep coming out for a while because it's already been written and acted and edited. (I'd actually expect a lot of bad-but-finished movies that would normally never be released to get released once they start running out of the good stuff) There is less than no point to boycott anything right now.
1) Nobody in the unions has called for a boycott.
2) Boycotting takes away the residuals/initial payout due to the actors and writers right when they aren’t working.
3) Boycotting let’s the studios say “See? You aren’t valuable; nobody wants your labor” which is precisely the opposite of the message to be sent.
this is the best visual gag i've ever seen
Same energy
i cant believe there are people who still havent seen this video
I could probably recite this entire video, word-for-word, on demand.
Goddamn, this is nearly thirty years old and it fits like a glove into contemporary shitpost cadence and aesthetics, this is High Art
Saw that post about transmascs and how ppl need to talk more about vaginal atrophy and how it's easily treatable with estrogen cream without affecting your HRT and it got me thinking about how none of us transfems seem to talk about dick atrophy either and how it's also easily treatable with topical testosterone cream provided you're not taking a T blocker (so on a GnRH agonist, estradiol monotherapy, or have had bottom surgery). Without T you don't get that passive tissue maintenance so unless you want to get hard every other day for the rest of your life to keep it healthy you're kinda screwed and erections can become really painful, let alone the change in length/shape. So yeah ask about topical testosterone.
Imagine actually being so evil that you'd rather make sure your writers suffer financially instead of just paying them the pay they deserve. Hell truly has some seats reserved already, holy shit.
Hey while we’re on the topic there are glitches on this website old enough to graduate middle school and the search function hasn’t worked in over a decade and tags are still broken on mobile and completely innocuous tags are still blacklisted and wiped clean for being “potentially NSFW” and the search function is disabled from dashboard view-only blogs and jumping to individual blogs via reblogs has been made actively difficult on purpose and you won’t ban r.adfems and you won’t ban nazis or antivaxxers and you won’t do jack about harassment but you’ll ban black and queer and especially transfem bloggers for breathing funny and you’ll whip out unforeseen moderation tools to unperson someone’s blog for pointing out potential transphobic sympathies among this site’s admins and you’ll have the gall to call yourself The Queerest Site On The Net to advertise in spite of all this and you’ll advertise incessantly and obnoxiously to the point of being overly personable and borderline guilt-trippy without putting any funds or effort or anything into fixing any of the above

Good news: if you’re currently laying around and not producing anything, you are a credit to your species.
It’s recently been found that even hive insects rest. Bees will play with colorful toys. Ants sleep for about 1 minute but they do it so frequently it amounts to a few hours per day. Even trees take breaks.
The only things that work without rest are machines; literally everything that lives requires rest.
EVERYTHING THAT LIVES REQUIRES REST. STOP JUDGING YOURSELF FOR NOT BEING A ROBOT.
also even machines require regular maintenance or else they break down, usually catastrophically.

what perfection this is
Actually I'll never forgive Punk Rave and Killstar and fast fashion brands for tricking people into thinking that being goth or punk or emo is expensive. Babygirl the only goth brand names you need to know are Rit, Good Will, Etsy, and Studs and Spikes, we used to shove safety pins through our ears and then they started selling earrings that look like safety pins for 15.99. We used to dye thrifted wedding dresses black and they started selling gothic gowns for 300 bucks. We used to put studs on boots we found in the back of the good will and they started making Demonias. DIY or die wasn't perfect it can be exclusionary to disabled people but whatever the fuck we've got going on right now is so much worse. It's not any more inclusive to the disabled and it is exclusionary to the people who made punk, to the people who made goth, to the people who made emo. If you've got the funds and you don't want to do diy pay someone else to do it for you but please let it be a small artist or a friend not some guy in a suit who's made it his business to gentrify punk. You can turn flats into platforms with flipflops, hotglue and gumption don't let anyone tell you different.

As you can see from her adorable little trans flag glove, she’s a trans girl!
Three points from this article I really want people to take away from it:
1.
"There often comes a pivotal point during radicalization when a person first faces the consequences of their extremism when they have to decide whether to make amends and reintegrate themselves into their communities or to double down, retreating further and further into a self-reinforcing universe of alternate facts and realities."
2.
"The “concerned parent” trope in news articles has emerged as one of the most pernicious forms of American anti-trans propaganda, according to Dr. Julia Serano, the famed trans writer and biologist. “These pieces strike trans-unaware audiences as ‘fair and balanced’ because they seem to show ‘all sides’ of the story,” Serano wrote recently in a piece about how even mainstream publications like The New York Times and The Atlantic have frequently elevated the voices of non-affirming parents while obscuring those parents’ ties to extremist anti-trans organizations. “These articles make it seem as though these parents simply want what’s best for their child,” Serrano wrote, “when in actuality these parents are heavily invested in disaffirming and suppressing their child’s trans identity.”
3.
“If there’s adults in your life or if there’s people in your life or friends or whoever the fuck that you love, that you’re worried about losing over this, and if you’re like… ‘if I come out this person might abandon me,’ that’s their decision that they’re making,” Renton says. “That is 100% not on you. It doesn’t mean you’re fucking bad. It doesn’t mean you’re wrong. It doesn’t mean there’s something broken with you. That is someone else being fucked up.” “Ultimately, community will find you, and you will find community, whether it feels impossible or not,” he says. “We’re not going anywhere.”
This article is very long and I suggest you read it
anyway DDOS ransom attacks suck but since people decided to uncritically spread racist and Islamophobic propaganda in the wake of a common internet attack, instead of donating more money to AO3 (which always gets all the money asked for and more) please consider donating to these organizations
The Rainbow Railroad helps LGBTQ+ people around the globe who face immediate physical danger due to the laws or policies of the countries they live in, up to and including helping people emigrate for safety. They also help with on-the-ground programs for people who they cannot help emigrate. I personally know and love someone who was helped by this organization. You can read their history here.
EATHAN is the East African Trans and Health Advocacy Network who are doing critical, on the ground work to aid, protect, and legislate for LGBTQ+ East Africans. They are active in Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda. You can donate and read about what they're up against here.
and remember, please to always think critically and kindly; it is very distressing to me how many people immediately bought into infowars level conspiracy just because a fanfiction website went down for a bit.
I Can Eat Glass was a linguistic project documented on the early Web by then-Harvard student Ethan Mollick. The objective was to provide speakers with translations of the phrase "I can eat glass, it does not hurt me" from a wide variety of languages; the phrase was chosen because of its unorthodox nature. Mollick's original page disappeared in or about June 2004.
As Mollick explained, visitors to a foreign country have "an irresistible urge" to say something in that language, and whatever they say (a cited example being along the lines of "Where is the bathroom?") usually marks them as tourists immediately. Saying "I can eat glass, it does not hurt me", however, ensures that the speaker "will be viewed as an insane native, and treated with dignity and respect".
