Working in retail, particularly at Kate Spade, has helped me to better understand the effectiveness of visual marketing and merchandising. Where you choose to place certain items on tables, shelves, etc. as well as what pieces of clothing and accessories you adorn your mannequins with is crucial in properly advertising the products to your clients. I feel as though this display, our front marketing table, is the most effective of all the displays in our store for various reasons. Not only does it portray our latest collection, but it immediately draws in the customer, whether they are entering the store or merely walking past. The fact that a majority of the items on this table are our novelty pieces from the collection help to communicate the theme of the collection, as well as the color palette being represented in the jewelry, handbags, and clothing. The mannequin pictured is also crucial in this display, for she is clothed in the main pieces from our August collection: the leather moto jacket, bow blouse, and a-line black skirt. All of these items are conveniently placed on a rack to the left for our customers to shop as well. The accessories on the table also allow multiple options for our clients to customize the look shown on the mannequin, giving them the opportunity to make the look their own.
