me, complaining privately with someone about a fandom we’re both in: yeah, it gets kind of frustrating how the woobified fanon version of the characters is so pervasive, it’s cool to see how people project their feelings about gender onto the characters but i also like accurate characterisation sometimes and i think there are ways to do both idk. I like playing with canon and i wish there was more people who really dug their teeth into what it was doing instead of superimposing this sort of fan culture tropification onto it.

someone online: ugh CRINGE why is this fandom LIKE THIS why do THEY have to make EVERYTHING [insert either lgbt or neurodivergent headcanon here]

me: hey actually, i think throwing out canon is the only way to interact with fiction and having your own personal version of a character is good actually, piss off!

Animals sketched in little waistcoats make me feel every emotion

The sadness and anger are just longing for Frog and Toad or Redwall to be real so I can just fuck off and be a weasel in a cute little dress somewhere.

I don’t want to participate in late-stage capitalism I want to be a vole dressed like a hobbit how hard is this to understand.

this is what full self actualization looks like

i’d rather just fast forward to a few years from now where i’ll be a broke alcoholic but at least i’ll pass enough that when i vent about my mommy issues to the bartender for the third time that tuesday he’ll address me as “sir” when kicking me out of his establishment
