Please don’t let fandom ruin something you love. Walk away and unfollow the fans and enjoy the thing by yourself, or find a limited circle of people who ignore the discourse, or get your irl friends into the thing and collectively ignore the Internet community, or blacklist from here to the moon if you need to and only ever scroll through your rarepair ship’s tag on AO3. if you can’t go through your dashboard without stressing out because you can’t unfollow several people cause youre scared of them, youre under no obligation to keep sucking up to them, just leave, just go lol they can’t do shit. i know its scary but like.. what are they gonna do, call you out? and for what, because they can’t take rejection? whos the weak one here.  find pleasant people. sometimes if youre dashboard is just drama maybe you can just follow aesthetic only blogs. its kind of common sense but people really get scared to be independent on here. its not wrong to have low followers and having decent people on your dash, like its fine, and if someone gives you bad vibes you dont have to deal with it.

This is very important. Last year, my dashboard was a complete fucking trash-fire – ‘discourse’ out the wazoo, so many alarmist and guilt-trippy posts that even the idea of logging onto Tumblr made me feel sick, with even the things I agreed with getting repeated so many times that I wanted to rip my hair out. I didn’t have a problem with unfollowing people, but rather with how many I would have to unfollow (I was following well over 3k accounts).

So I chose the nuclear option. I transferred my sideblogs to a brand new account and deleted the old one. On this fresh account, I could begin anew with following people – this time vetting much more carefully, sticking mostly to aesthetic blogs (fashion, interior design, nature, etc) or to fandom blogs that were 99% gifs, fanart, fanfic, etc, with minimal ‘discourse.’ Tumblr just burnt me out so badly that I couldn’t put up with anything else.

Your mental and emotional well-being needs to always come first. Unfollow and block whoever you have to unfollow and block. If they’re the sort of people who actually monitor their followers and give people shit for unfollowing / use fear tactics to keep people from unfollowing? You dodged a fucking bullet, trust me on this. Block their arse if they try to harass you. In the end, you don‘t owe such people anything – not your loyalty and most certainly not your fear. Don’t let them control you.

This basically describes the Skywalkers. Peace is not in the cards for them, and this is what Kylo was upset about in TFA and didn’t understand. They are children of both the light and the dark side, and if they try to stay true to one, they will always be called to the other and will have to bury that part of themselves. Luke and Leia were lucky, I think, because they didn’t have as much training and I think the light and dark got split between the two of them. However, Anakin and TFA Kylo have to deal with it.

A Moment of Silence

Someone I love and care a lot about held a grudge against me for an entire year before they told me. It hit me harder than I can possibly describe. Please, just be upfront and honest with me.

Yeah. My main complaint about TLJ was the lack of Vader/Anakin/Whatever else he’s calling himself. If they want to have a force ghost use lightning to burn a tree with Jedi books inside it, fine. But it would make much more sense for it to be the man who was basically screwed over and failed by the Jedi heartwarmingly (imo) using the force power he never was able to use in life and putting to bed the teachings he disagreed with, as well as sharing a moment with his son. Instead, the one to destroy the tree and the books is the guy who promoted those rigid teachings all his life. It doesn’t make sense to me. At least, it could have been better. (Another thing that got me was the Rey Palpatine theory not being confirmed, but I’m still holding out hopefully well placed hope for that one.)

The Great Bot Purge 2018

Tumblr is in an epidemic. The porn bot apocalypse is here. And it’s really, really, really, really, really annoying. Even more annoying than me saying really five times in a row because let’s face it:

Lately the probability of finding a comment like this in the notes has gone up from 100% to a 10000% and it’s seriously impacting our user experience.

I have been here since 2010, @staff. Started out as wolf blog and in 2012 I used to share my poetry and made eight super good friends to which I am still talking today! But now what?

It’s pretty safe to say that there are a number of bot networks active on this website. The one asking for bitcoin and the aforementioned ‘looking for fun’ one for example. The bots follow a pattern and because it’s a network it should be easy to roll up.

I know we always point at @staff to fix this, but honestly, it’s not an easy fix. I know many people block bots, but do we also report and flag them? How does staff respond to flags?

Anyway, here is what I and 10,000 other people who started following this blog over the last 24 hours propose:

We purge the bots. The porn bots. All of them. This is going to be one big COORDINATED effort to destroy the bots!

For one month we are going to report and flag those blogs, and make sure we cut their profits so they don’t make enough money to support their bot network.

It’s very important that we do this as a community. This is a movement. Everyone has to join so we can limit the outcome of this battle to only two possibilities:

Here is how we proceed:

Our first objective is to purge the influx of ‘want to have fun?’ bots in the comments. Tumblr’s ToS allows porn blogs, so we don’t flag bot blogs for ‘sensitive content’, but rather for spam. Because that is exactly what they are doing: spamming the comments with unsafe links to shady websites.

We have two types of warriors in our army. Mobile and desktop users.

Mobile users: If you are on mobile, your options are limited. You can only report comments.

Your task is to report as many bot comments as possible and make a statement to @support​ and @staff​.

Desktop users: If you’re on desktop, your mission is to flag porn bot accounts. 

Starting August 1, a new list of ~200 post links divided by zodiac signs will be posted everyday. In order to make things a tad more entertaining, I will give the operations silly or epic titles.

Join us @purgethebots , turn on post notifications so we can coordinate our first attack and prepare yourself for operation:
