Worst thing about Burr is that he really was not a good person by any stretch of the word but also he's been through so much character assassination that you cannot criticize him in a productive way without first writing an entire essay dispelling 18th century political propaganda
It's actually so annoying, because he really did do some horrendous shit (ex: cheating on his dying wife with a woman who could not meaningfully consent, or owning slaves while claiming to be an abolitionist), but the only things that ever seem to stick are like, long-disproved falsehoods and straight up homophobia
i think the thing that Gets me about dni lists is that they almost always consist 90% of things nobody would ever self-identify as. "dni if racist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist—" my brother in christ nobody thinks of themselves as being any of those things. even the most disgustingly bigoted people on earth will be like "no no, i'm totally NOT racist, i just think [insert cartoonishly racist beliefs here], but that DOESN'T make me racist and if you call me racist then you're the real bigot >:("

for easter we are singing a song in the choir that contains the lyric "no shields and no armor," and without thinking, i decided to wear chainmail to church today. my clown ass is gonna be up there singing about "no armor" while literally wearing armor. Thinking Things Through 100
