I’ve seen a few instagram posts about how Skam España is trash because of the way Cris talked about Joana and Nora telling her to break up.
Correct me if I’m mistaken, but I didn’t see anything wrong ? Like, yes, Joana has an MI. By now Cris understands how the MI can affect Joana’s emotions and thoughts, but like Cris didn’t get a degree in medicine or psychology just because she is dating someone with an MI. She is still a teenager in a somewhat new relationship completely out of her confort zone.
It is normal for her to question till what point the disease is affecting Joana’s behaviour or if it is just how Joana is. It is also normal to be annoyed at receiving 7473 text messages, regardless of Joana’s MI. It doesn’t mean she is disrespecting Joana in any way.
Never, in any moment, did she indicate that she’d break up with Joana, she was just commenting on her doubts and how she doesn’t know what to think/how to act.
As for Nora, she was literally projecting her feelings towards Alejandro/ her flaky sister into Cris’s relationship.
I think it was a rather realistic scene. People like to think that because Cris’s season ended, the issues with Joana’s MI also did, but guess what peeps? It didn’t, Joana is still ill, Cris is still learning, they are both still teenagers and, as far as my opinion, they are dealing with it very well.
I love Taeyeon so much. She is a great role model. She has been through so much but she is still so strong. And I could listen to her voice forever. We also have many things in common and that makes me love her even more.
me laughing at all the salty and angry anti amy/laurie posts while my ship THRIVED in little women (2019)
I cannot believe this is happening.
I mean, Rowling has done nothing but disappoint everyone since the last Harry Potter book, while Rick Riordan has continued making Mythology themed books and expanding the universe he's created, while having gay characters, a genderfluid character, a strong Muslim female leader, and so many other great things while keeping his books readable for a whole range of ages.
You know what? No. No, Hatsune Miku did not write Harry Potter.
J. K. Rowling wrote Harry Potter. And we need to accept that.
Harry Potter isn’t some pure unproblematic beacon of perfection that we can just choose to erase the scummy author from and enjoy without guilt. Harry Potter is very much rooted in Rowling’s view of the world. The blatant antisemitism in the portrayal of the goblins, the entire race of slave creatures that actually really like being slaves and Hermione’s attempts to free them are largely played off as a joke, the almost complete dearth of canon characters of color (and then when she does put canonical characters of color in, they’re… Nagini…), the complete lack of respect for other cultures (the Japanese wizarding school literally translates to “Magic Place” in Japanese, Cho Chang is not even remotely a proper Chinese name, don’t get me started on her usage of Native American folklore), the almost complete lack of LGBTQ+ characters, the “Dumbledore is gay!” baiting, the lycanthropy-as-HIV metaphor that involves one of the werewolves intentionally infecting as many people as he can, with a preference for targeting children, no less…
These are all very much present in Harry Potter. They’re not things you can just ignore. And they’re there because Rowling wrote them in.
I know you read Harry Potter as a kid and loved it. I know when you read Harry Potter as a kid you probably didn’t even notice how shitty all this stuff was. I certainly didn’t. But you can’t go back to that time. You can’t go back to when you were 10, when you were consuming this media and loving it uncritically without notice or regard for its more problematic elements. You can’t go back to being a kid again.
And that’s okay. It doesn’t mean you’re required to wholeheartedly condemn this important part of your childhood. You can still enjoy these books while acknowledging that they’ve got some really shitty things in them. You can enjoy Harry Potter as a mature adult. You don’t have to be a kid again to like it. And you’re perfectly allowed to hate on Rowling for her shittiness, past and present, while still loving Harry Potter.
So don’t say Harry Potter was written by Hatsune Miku. It wasn’t. It was written by J. K. Rowling, warts and all.
i love when my ad on youtube is a kpop music video because then i just jam on and don’t skip
I came to this realization years ago but: Korea loves Kpop girls, but don't love the actual girl.
They love the persona: the aegyo, the sexy stage, the bubbly songs, the submissiveness of female idols.
However, when these girls; these women (because I feel like some of them aren't even seen as that) are vocal about feminism, inequality, self love, or take any control over their lives; they are demonized in an instant. If someone leaked pictures of them that were supposed to be private, they are slut shamed, attention whores, ugly, or not that talented to begin with.
And this isn't restricted to kpop. This isn't restricted to Korea itself. But this is a factor, one of many, that messes with someone's mental state. Which could lead to things like suicide.
This quick "shoot down idols for being slightly flawed or human" is prevalent to all genders. We've lost idols from all genders. But there will ALWAYS be a different standard for women because they are supposed to be the pure innocent person that fits the societal gaze.
At the end of the day, if we do not break that mentality thrusted at us that these female idols (and all idols too) are simply here to be Barbie dolls and not human beings, then we run the risk of losing another idol.

thank you for your kindness, passion, and ability to make so many people happy. we’ll always cheer you on and are waiting for your safe return!
i just saw frozen 2 and i am forever changed. even though elsa has not been given a sexual or romantic orientation, the journey of listening to the voice and accepting it so that she can flourish, even if it means leaving most of what she has known behind struck a chord for me and my journey as a lesbian. and my journey as a child of poverty who has been lucky enough to go to college. what a wonderful story to share with children to mold their minds. especially with taking responsibility for what was broken by (white) ancestors and mending it. what a glorious movie.
