Sign upYoung women are more ambitious because they have to be
A recent study by the Pew Center shows that young women are more ambitious than men their age across the board; women are placing both career and family high on their list of life priorities, with an increasing percentage of women claiming having a successful marriage as one of the most important things in their lives and more young women than men caring about being a good parent.
But a closer look into the issue reveals that this higher ambition in women may be rooted in necessity as marriage, parenthood, and career usually work out better for men in the long run. As women start to age they take on kids and maternity leave and stall their career or get passed over for promotions, and the pay gap between them and men widens, reaching 75 cents to their male peers’ dollar at the age of retirement, a relatively steep drop from the 95 cents to dollar ratio at the start of their careers.
Studies also show that “married men are happier, live longer, make more money, and experience less stress, while married women are rewarded with more housework, less money, worse sex and a few extra pounds.” All the while, women are still taking on the majority of parenting responsibilities, regardless of their jobs and strive towards work-life balance.
So while it is great that women are firing up their ambition and life priorities, it appears this is what it takes to succeed as “the sexual economy, as well as the professional one, are simply skewed in men’s favor.”

#Christianlife Titus 2:1-6(MSG) Your job is to speak out on the things that make for solid doctrine. Guide older men into lives of temperance, dignity, and wisdom, into healthy faith, love, and endurance. Guide older women into lives of reverence so they end up as neither gossips nor drunks, but models of goodness. By looking at them, the younger women will know how to love their husbands and children, be virtuous and pure, keep a good house, be good wives. We don’t want anyone looking down on God’s Message because of their behavior. Also, guide the young men to live disciplined lives.
