I get kind of irritated every time someone tries to tell me that Aegon/Young Griff, the Martells, and the Dornish aren’t white, because the fact is they are. Seriously, why does being biracial mean you can only identify with one ethnicity as part of your heritage?
If the Andals and the First Men are considered to be white, then the Martells and the Dornishmen are part white. If the Valyrians are considered to be white then the Martells are, again, part white through the double marriage between that House and the Targaryens.
Due to that double Martell-Targaryen marriage, Aegon and Princess Rhaenys are the biracial offspring of two biracial parents. That means they could carry any combination of traits inherited from their Rhoynar, Andal, First Men, and Valyrian ancestry on both sides.
That’s why it’s really strange to me when some get so upset over the actors who are fancast as Aegon. Given his ethnic background, him having the Targaryen look (as we are told he does) is very possible.
- #house martell
- #house targaryen
- #aegon targaryen
- #it's kind of offensive to me as someone who is biracial and has loads of biracial family members
- #people who are biracial don't all just have one set appearance and can identify as more than one ethnicity
- #that's why there are multiple types of dornishmen
