Sign upAnd people talk about Steve Rogers and Tony Stark being opposites because PAST MAN and FUTURE MAN but that is missing the other part of it:
Steve Rogers started out with a less than able body, and technology and science turned him into this better than perfect physical ideal.
Tony Stark started out physically able, and then technology, Stark Technology specifically, the same family of tech that turned Steve Rogers into Captain America, turned him into less than able, physically imperfect.
So, they’re two sides of the same coin, showing the different ways that your body’s abilities can shape you.
In my head it’s going into this whole thing like they’re real people, and like the reason they fight isn’t because they’re big whiny babies but because they remind each other of what they were and what they are now, and the things that they’ve lost because of their decisions, and it’s all getting a bit too much for me.
But goddamn. Thinking about comic books and applying them to real life is the best thing in the world (except for sandwiches).
