BUT OF COURSE SHE SEEMED ANCIENT WHEN I WAS A GRUB. IN RETROSPECT, SHE’S ACTUALLY PRETTY YOUNG, BUT SHE’LL ALWAYS SEEM OLDER TO ME, EVEN IF I END UP AGING FASTER THAN HER.
ON THE OTHER HAND, CAPTOR AND I ARE THE SAME AGE, BUT I FLUCTUATE WILDLY BETWEEN SEEING HIM AS SOME KIND OF WISE OLDER BROTHER TYPE, AND THINKING HE’S THE BRATTIEST WIGGLER I’VE EVER HAD A HUMILIATING SCREAMING MATCH WITH.
WHEN WE WERE TEENAGERS, I USED TO WORRY LIKE A PATHETIC TWIT THAT LEIJON WOULDN’T FIND ME ATTRACTIVE ANYMORE IF I ENDED UP LOOKING A LOT OLDER THAN HER. BUT THAT’S FUCKING STUPID, AND KIND OF INSULTING I GUESS? I USED TO GET BUTTHURT ABOUT HER BEING TALLER THAN ME TOO, WHEN WE WERE KIDS. SHE DOESN’T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT EITHER OF THOSE THINGS, SO NEITHER DO I.
BUT THIS KIND OF SHIT IS A FACT OF LIFE FOR LITERALLY EVERYONE. IT’S NOT A SPECIAL OR IMPORTANT MUTANT-BLOOD THING. IN FACT THAT MAKES IT EASIER, BECAUSE IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT, I COULD END UP WITH A LIFESPAN SHORTER THAN A MAROON-BLOOD OR LONGER THAN THE CONDESCE. WHO KNOWS? SO WE’VE ALL ACCEPTED THAT IT COULD GO EITHER WAY OR ANYWHERE IN BETWEEN, AND THE REST OF MY FAMILY IS REALLY CLOSE TOGETHER ON THE HEMOSPECTRUM, SO THEY’LL HAVE EACH OTHER.
TO BE HONEST THOUGH, I DON’T MAKE LIFE CHOICES THAT ARE LIKELY TO LEAD TO A LONG AND HEALTHY OLD AGE, SO THE WHOLE THING IS A MOOT POINT. THE BEST WE CAN DO IS LIVE IT UP IN THE MEANTIME. (;B

Oh man, I just wanted to thank you for posting that stuff about your Fancytier ruffles because it reminded me that wonderful things like ruffler foots exist. I was planning on box-pleating some ribbon trim by hand (dumb dumb dumb), so you just saved me probably at least 10 hours of work. Can't wait to see more progress on your Fancytier Feferi! :D
No problem, pumpkin! I would advise though that the ribbon trim be wide enough to ruffle. no thinner than an inch, and even then be slow and careful.
I ruffled lace with it.
The ruffles on the leggings are more like knife pleats than box pleats!

The dress was semi-period accurate (you know. It was a weird marriage of canon and period accuracy.)
And bustled up in the back. I wore a corset and bustle-pad underneath!
It was around 14+ yards of red velveteen… And I somehow managed to sew it in ten days because I am insane and I was full of youthful energy. (this was 3 years ago so)
Fun fact, these were taken in the carpark at Melbourne University(which totally looks like Hogwarts, btw.) I had to get changed crouching between the cars. Afterward, we walked home in pseudo-cosplay (Just the wigs and makeup on) and covered in fake blood. At 3AM in downtown Melbourne. We had a bunch of drunk blokes absolutely launch away from us screaming. LOLOLOL.
This is the only really good shot of it bustled up.

I have a lot of people say very kind, humbling things about my Dolorosa cosplay, and though I have mentioned it before, I feel the need to do this again to make myself feel better about the compliments I receive.
I referenced the lovely yaexrae’s tutorials for the pointed tips of the shoulders, and for the suggestion of satin-stitching the designs down onto the mantle. If I had just heat ‘n’ bonded the green that matched the striped organza I’d found (like I planned to do before seeing her tutorial), look how much lamer it would have looked:
