“The music seemed to cut into his flesh, leaving a sort of scar of longing never satisfied, almost a wound of feeling.”

—Elizabeth Hardwick, Sleepless Nights

So in Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life, I got married, had a prosperous farm. Had a kid. The kid wanted to be an artist so one time, I went into his room and he was coloring in his little book. I talked to him and he was singing a little song and I was like, ‘Aw, that’s cute’ and then he started to say “wound” over and over again. It took me weeks to realize he was saying “round”, just with the w sound. I SERIOUSLY THOUGHT HE WAS DRAWING PEOPLE BEING WOUNDED. I THOUGHT HE WAS GOING TO GROW UP TO BE THIS SERIAL KILLER.

Any wound rather than a wound of the heart.

—Ecclesiastes 25:13
