282 White Crosses for the Rhinos
vimeo.comIn honor of World Rhino Day, the nature conservationist film production company - Green Renaissance - along with a few volunteers, slammed 282 wooden crosses into the grass at Sea Point in Cape Town, South Africa. The amount of crosses symbolize how many of our rhinos have been poached for their (hence) non-medicinal horns this past year.
This video with its beautiful footage and inspiring music can easily bring one to tears and the realization that you, too, can help. I was interning there a while ago and actually sat behind the editor who was compiling it. Awesome experience 8)
Please watch :)

World Rhino Day!
Today is World Rhino Day! In celebration of this lovely animal, make your contribution to an organization of your choice (like World Wildlife Fund) or even just talk about the issue to a friend. Right now we are averaging a rhino killed every 20 hours and the Javan and Sumatran rhinos in Asia are nearly extinct.
These wonderful animals are meeting a horrible demise at the hands of poachers and all for what…a horn. Please spread the word about rhino conservation because your interest keeps them on our planet. If you’re interested in learning more go to http://www.rhinos.org/ or check out my documentary on rhino poaching and the patrol men who are risking their lives to save them.
Thank you!!
Algy Celebrates World Rhino Day 2012

Algy loves rhinoceroses. To celebrate World Rhino Day he invited some very special friends for a quiet holiday in the West Highlands, far away from harm.
[Algy gratefully acknowledges the source of these particular rhinos, in a photo by Clem Evans, evo2000, on flickr, adapted under a Creative Commons licence.]
