“I’m the crazy one who thinks that words reach people.”
—Anne Sexton, from A Self-Portrait In LettersI’ve fallen in love with Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous. I love the theme and the content of the show. It’s very charming in an The Office kind of way, and also has an Arrested Development esque. It’s very refreshing to have a lead character that’s not some Taylor Lautner type guy used to target teenage girls who will fall in love with him and give the show a better rating. It’s self-aware and comedic but also has emotional aspects and tender moments which make the characters more believable, and uses subtle satirical jokes which target current social issues and stereotypes without being too cheesy or dramatic. To be honest if you’re an overthinker like me it’s actually quite sad. We see a character that uses arrogance and smugness to disguise that he is actually quite unsure of himself and extremely self-concious and insecure. We see someone who has never felt successful and has always felt like the odd one out, in school and at home. Its relatable yet entertaining. comedic yet thought-provoking. funny but sad.
