Are We Mindless Humans??
There have been psychological theories that suggest that our personalities, thoughts, behaviors and feelings are uncontrolled bodily processes. Let us look at some of the reasons below as to why that is.
Conscious vs. Unconscious memory
When we construct our memories from what we remembered it is called explicit memory. Explicit (conscious) memory is what we can recall and remember. On the other hand, implicit (unconscious) memory is when you have performed a task that you cannot recall. It is something you are completely unaware of but plays an important role in controlling our behavior. Here is an example:
Suppose that when you were little, you had ordered popcorn every time you went to the movie theater. You may not even like popcorn but because you had such a ‘’pleasant experience’’ from the theater, you would order popcorn every time you went.
Your unconscious mind would associate the taste of the popcorn to the ‘’pleasant experience’’ you had as a child.
Sex
There have been studies that Men experience greater stimulation in the left hippo-campus and women in the right. Resulting in women excelling at language and men having better spatial awareness.
3 Levels of Moral
According to Piaget and Kohlberg, you would go through 3 stages of moral development as you get older. Kohlberg studied boys aged 10 to 17. The first stage is the pre-conventional stage, this is when you don’t have empathy for others and the only reason to behave good is from the fear of punishment. The second stage is the conventional stage; you want to be regarded as good in the eyes of others. Lastly, the last stage of your moral development is the post-conventional stage. This is when you start thinking/acting independently and asking questions about what is right and wrong.
Puberty
Men tend to be more hostile, socially withdrawn and engaging in negative activities. Women tend to break rules and engage in alcohol use.
Attractiveness
Attractive people were generally viewed as happier and socially skilled then the rest of us.
Does anyone else get this mental turmoil from ruining perfectly smooth foods. Like when you open a peanut butter jar and the top is smooth and untouched and you have to be the asshole to ruin it. Or the top of smooth ice cream and you want to eat it but don’t want to ruin it. Idk guys that’s just me.
