    Weird news roundup

Today, one after one, I’ve come across some weird news stories. I don’t know what it is about this particular Thursday …

Tonight’s plans: troll Craigslist for biotches trying to pass off fake handbags as designers. #oldladyalready #igotchagirlz #ainthappenin

Well, OK. The Tweet was soon deleted, but we were able to at least grab a screen shot of the offense.

    • And then I found another gem, albeit a fake-news story. It’s not real, but it is funny, so I figured I’d include it in this roundup for giggles.

The faux-article: Local man arrested for merchandise tampering at Wal-Mart. But as the story says, “the details of his infractions are unique, to say the least.”

Cleaning Fairy Breaks into Houses and Leaves Cleaning Bill

Sue Warren decided she wasn’t going to sit around and wait for clients to call her house cleaning business. Instead, she took the initiative and started breaking into people’s houses, cleaning them and leaving the bill. You have to admit, it’s a pretty bold business plan.

According to the Westlake Police Department, the 53-year-old woman from Elyria, Ohio, was apprehended last week, after she broke into a house on Dover Center Road, did some light cleaning and left a bill for $75, on a napkin. Mallory Bush, 18, was actually asleep in her bedroom the whole time, and when she woke up and saw the place slightly cleaner and the bill on the table, she thought her parents had hired a cleaning person.  She called her mom, Sherri, to tell her the hired help did their job, but the woman had no idea what she was talking about, so they decided to give Sue a call, thinking she cleaned the wrong house. When they heard her answer, the Bushes’ jaws dropped to the ground.

Runaway car crashes into second story of Fountain Hills home

The Arizona Republic-12 News Breaking News Team

A runaway car struck the second story of a vacant Fountain Hills home Wednesday, a spokesman from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said.

Two women were trying to move a disabled Volkswagen Jetta at the intersection of Palisades Boulevard and Sage Drive, Sgt. Brandon Jones said. One woman pushed the car while the other tried to steer it, he said.

According to Jones, the car started downhill in the 15200 block of East Sage Drive, eventually reaching speeds of about 70-80 mph. Because the car was disabled, the driver could not control the speed or direction of the vehicle, he said.

The car reached the cul-de-sac where it hit the curb, jumped 12-16 feet in the air and struck the second story of the house, Jones said. The car then fell from the house and landed by the front door, he said.

Jones said the driver sustained minor injuries. The house suffered major damage and the car was totaled, he said.

The vacant home had recently been sold, although the deal had not yet been closed, Jones said.
