Talk about power walking. This song takes that to a new level.

Plus, there’s the whole “Mother Nature is a whore” declaration…

Has a beat you can power-walk to. (I’m walking about 4mph. Who needs to run, right?)

PEACHES + THE PHENOMENAL HANDCLAP BAND - WALK THE NIGHT

Is it possible? Two of my favorite musical acts joining forces for a track that is perfect for doing exactly what is in the title? Evidently so. This track takes a sinister-sounding bass line and adds Peaches’ trademark spoken-word lyricism (rap?) and adds a few “hey!”s for good measure. For all you music supervisors and editors out there, here’s the instrumental. Mix that shit up!

Dusty Music For Travellers Podcast 01 by Terre Thaemlitz (artist, writer, label owner)
Hello fellas! This is Dusty Music For Travellers Podcasting hosts by Dust On Boots record label. You might have thought that we’ll collect dj mixes and mark our logo, but no. We’ve a conception here. We ask to show us mp3 player of some interesting people like deejays, musicians, photographers, illustrators, producers etc. And we scan playlist with music for travelling or walking. After we take 10-12 tracks from here to compose a mix. Yep, this is our conception.

First our guest who open this podcasting is Terre Thaemlitz aka Dj Sprinkles (multi-media producer, writer, artist, deejay, label owner / Osaka, Japan, http://comatonse.com/):

“When I think of “walking music,” the first thing that comes to mind is being in my early teens, walking  through the suburban countryside of Springfield, Missouri, blasting electronic music from a huge, silver Sharp cassette boombox perched on my shoulder. Speakers pointing towards my ears, never away. These music walks were a common passtime for my brothers and I, although they often played tapes of Midwestern Punk bands. When we lived in Minnesota, my older brother was friends with the original members of Hüsker Dü and that Minneapolis punk scene. But I hated electric guitar. I don’t recall anyone ever approving or disapproving of the noise we made – not even the cows in the field behind our house.”

    Walking Music - Genres Collide!

Two years ago I was really committed to walking. All summer I was out the door and walking for at least a half hour. As a musician and former marching band member, I feel the need to listen to music while walking. Well, it’s not uncommon really. Lots of people do. For an idea of the speed I walked back then, I listened to Lady Gaga’s Poker Face.

This time however, I’ve stepped my speed up a little. Poker Face is too slow for me now. I am around at the 128 BPM mark. After spending some time on iTunes, I found some songs I really liked.

Yes, you are seeing this correctly. Pachelbel’s Canon in D follows You Sexy Thing. My college Music Theory and Music History professor would be so happy to see this! The few classical songs in here are along the style of Bond. She may or may not like Bond :) I wonder what Vivaldi would say if he saw his masterpiece, The Four Seasons, next to Dirty Little Secret. Or what Mozart say if he saw Hollaback Girl following his serenade, Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. I’m sure they would all be okay with it if they knew their beloved works of art, remade, pushed this girl to be a healthier person.
