Some news about Vladislav Surkov (finally).

Listen up people. The Kremlin’s former political mastermind and all-round badass Vladislav Surkov is going to be in charge of co-ordinating Russia’s ruling political party, United Russia. Yeah, bet you’re glad you listened now. He is said to be in line to assume a top position in the party after Dmitry Medvedev becomes its leader. The party is holding its annual meeting on the 26th of May, so we will find out what his new ‘official’ role is then. The party has suffered since Surkov’s ‘horizontal demotion’. Yeah, that’s what I am calling it. Although I agree with others when they say it was like putting the oven in the spare bathroom. Surkov was known as the party’s main decision maker and has shepherded the party since its creation. So really, he is going to be doing what he’s always been doing. Well, it seems like it anyway. The thing we can learn from this: whilst Vladislav Surkov’s job title may change, his job description probably doesn’t.

[Surkov] believes that all democracies around the world are in fact managed and hypocritical, and give only the illusion of real freedom.
