How to stay engaged as you worship God
Loved Ones I do not believe that I know all that there is to know about this subject, but I feel compelled to briefly write out the following things because many long to know how to get or stay connected when they worship God. When we worship, our whole being must be involved for us to reach that place of inflamed passion and deep intimacy. Visualize Him as He reveals Himself. Physical descriptions were given in the scriptures for a reason! Revelation Chapter 4 vividly describes what God’s throne in Heaven looks like. Read this chapter, and use the eyes of your spirit to let those images come alive in you. This way when you worship, you can visualize yourself before God’s throne giving Him praise and honor and glory! You may not have the details of His face, but you can envision the form of Jesus as well. Fall at His feet, or sing into His eyes. In the Spirit you really are before God’s throne as you worship. In the Spirit, the Lord really can see your face and all your body’s motions. He can feel what burns in your heart, and if you open up in worship … you can feel what burns in His!
All of us grapple with maintaining absolute focus in times of worship, study, and prayer. Part of the love affair is that we keep coming back to Him when we find our minds wondering. We press in with more intensity when we find that our hearts are distant. We ask Him, expectantly, to encounter us and take us places in the Spirit that we’ve never been before. We ask for more of Jesus, which is the answer to everything (2 Peter 1:3). These things are only the beginning, but this is a blog entry, not a book! Soooo… until next time :)
