Vermont / sister
I woke up in Vermont, I’m here
to find my sister.
But this morning the fog was
like one wide snake through the streets.
The sun laughed and pretended she was the moon.
Half honey moon said hi, disappeared again.
Trees hanging onto yellow leaves,
mossy sideroads, mossy bark.
Long skinny roads, humble shade
Streams, the birds hide, the strong women
drive their trucks, life around their eyes,
I’ve read about this.
When I see her after two weeks,
our hearts will turn red.
I’ll run the lake between my fingers
and take a picture of her and her grown hair.
Fire trees, yellow babe, last time I was in this state
I climbed into the trunks of trees, that vermillion green,
I was small, I was tiny.
Now I’m armed and lived.
I’m searching out my home.
We stay by our phones and live close, the ache
of our tongues, bare collarbones, awakened, I drive.
So green, the mountains veiled, the rivers rocky
I found her.
this day has been sooooo long. woke up to my mom screaming (which isn’t the unusual part haha) while making breakfast because a mouse crawled out from under the stove and across the kitchen floor, then up onto the counters and got lost in the dish strainer for a while! so freaking gross :( worst part is, after an hour and a half of trying to contain it, it got back under the stove and hasn’t come back out since. i was already freaking out about there being a spiderweb in my room. now i have to worry about a mouse loose in the house? freaaaaak this place. my parents purchased traps to suffice until we can get an exterminator here. i think we’re bombing the house sometime this weekend. here we come hotel california.
we’ve spent the whole day de-cluttering and cleaning the entire kitchen. i hope this teaches my mother a valuable lesson about her slight “hoarding” problem. she’s no where near as bad as the people on the tv show, but she’s got a serious pack rat/over buying problem. i think it stems from her growing up really poor and now she feels like she needs to have an abundance of everything. but i’m so glad she’s finally opening her eyes!
What have i done?
he sat in a corner by himself staring at everyone else run outside..meeting other people talking ..being social..while he sit in the alley in the dark staring out at the bright lights that he can never touch or be apart of.
