What bikes do we ride?
You’ve always been wondering what kinda bikes we here at Fairmount Bicycles ride, right? Well, here’s your chance to find out. More to come!
Hey Folks. I am a Super Dark Green 2005 Surly Cross Check. I was originally owned by Peter Dalkner one of the artists at Birthday Street Comics (http://www.birthdaystreet.com/). Mr Dalkner sold me to Lenore Pipes where I had many exciting cyclocross races in the beginning of her cycling career. I have since retired with Tim and have evolved into the ultimate city commuting machine. Working front to back, I have a custom porteur rack made by Dan from Rack and Roll (http://racknroll.blogspot.com/), and a Novatech Dynohub running a Lumotech Lyt N Plus light. I am navigated through the city by Velo-Orange porteur bars and my drive train is Ultegra set up as 1X9 with a Dura-Ace bar end shifter. My brakes are Tektro CR720s attached to the Velo-Orange City Brake Levers. The current tires that I cruise through the city with are 700X38 Continental Touring Plus, but they are mostly hidden under the SKS longboard fenders that I wear to keep the street from my rider. Depending on Tim’s need for groceries or other cargo I will don a Surly rear rack with a pair of Axiom Panniers, but for a regular day I have a special bag for my front rack made by our friends at Swift Industries (http://builtbyswift.com/). I am attached to Tim via Crank Brothers Egg beaters and he sits upon a Black Brooks professional, however you would never know since it is covered 99% of the time. We have been together now for 3 years and have enjoyed many rides around Philly and into NJ. There have been many long rides, short rides, wrong turns, flats and foul weather, but we always manage to have fun and get where we want to be. I have more miles than I can count, and I hope to have many more. -
Velo Orange Grand Cru Single Straps, in both black and brown! A classy touch to some single strap cages.

FINALLY done and done!!! Can I now be considered an intermediate bike mechanic? I’ll have to buy a torque wrench and apply the appropriate newton meters to my next project.

The missing links were found today at Cambie Cycles! Looks like we’ll be done monday!
