On Sydney Lereux
First, let me say that this will be the only post I make or reblog about Syd. The only reason I’m doing this is because I’ve been seeing some absolutely INSANE bullshit on my dash, from both Canadian AND American fans.
So here’s what’s up.
To Canadian fans:
Syd is playing for the USA because she knew she would succeed there. The team is full of outstanding players, their funding kicks Canada’s in the ass, and she knew it was her best chance of success. Instead of being bitter and shouting racist comments at her, have some pride in the fact that someone from the true north strong and free is kicking some serious ass on the field - even if it’s not in red and white.
To American fans:
I completely agree that the behaviour of some Canadians has been disgusting and unacceptable. I do not, nor will I ever condone racial slurs, and I’m completely appalled by their actions. However, calling ALL Canadian fans AND players “bitter schizophrenics who need to stop listening to the voices in their heads saying they can play soccer when they can’t” is just as bad, and you need to cut it out. Instead of behaving just as ignorantly, spend your time defending Syd.
SO, to all of you who are being pieces of shit - both American AND Canadian - cut it the fuck out and stop acting like children. Syd is an amazing player. Respect it, and watch the games.
