You’ll also need: This WinRAR download (The SSP program to run Pappy). If you are on a Mac like me, it will run, but you need to do a few more steps: download and install WineBottler (so you can run PC programs on your Mac), and then try downloading the WinRAR program (I’m a little iffy, since I did this a long time ago. I will either run on just Wine, or it will need both, I’m not exactly sure…). When you double click the .ssp program in the Ghost’s folder, then it should run just fine ^^
After some very intense coding, some tears, and plenty of resets and redos, I finally have a basic, completely functional Ukagaka that I feel comfortable submitting for people to use :”3
What’s an Ukagaka, or ‘Ghost’? Basically, it’s a character you install that will stand in the corner of your screen and talk to you every now and then. Some of them remind you to take care of yourself and drink water or get food, some come with a couple characters in one pack and you can watch them interact together…pretty much whatever the coder wants them to do, they can program the ghost to do it.
I’ve been happily enjoying @sansismyotp‘s Sans Ghost, which can be found here, as well as how to download and install the Ghost, and after a while, I thought Sansy looked a little lonely, and wanted to draw a Papyrus to go with him.
Provided, the Sans Ghost has had two updates since its original posting, and has some very neat features added on. Papyrus is at some very basic coding right now, since I am still getting used to the program. However, everything that could have been changed has been changed to somewhat match Papyrus’ personality, and I have given him 9 different expressions as well as a blinking animation and a moving jaw when he talks. If he’s a little OOC, it’s because it’s hard to write for him all the time, especially for more in-depth coding stuffs…
@zarla-s has a very nice Ghost walkthrough here, and this is where I learned how to code my Papyrus. Also, a huge thanks goes to Zar for helping me when Pap would glitch out on me and I would message her in a panic. Thank you so much for your infinite patience ^^;
There ya go. In there are .Nar files for f_lowe_y, and f_lowe_y_quiet, a stripped down version that does make any noise (the original is a noisy little shite because I like them that way). As well, I included a .zip of my undertale themed balloons. All ya gotta do to install them is drop them onto an active ghost, they should do all the work. (if not, let me know and I’ll make the unarchived versions available)
I had originally created this little desktop buddy for the @ukagakadreamteamGhost Jam back in November. I wanted to expand on it a bit, so here we are!
Unfortunately, there is no easy way to update the Ghost Jam version
of the pet rock to version 2.0.0. If you already have the old version
and want to update it, you will need to install the pet rock again from
the download link in this post.
(If you absolutely want to keep your progress from the old version, feel free to send me a message, and I can guide you through the process.)
if you are wondering “What is this thing and how do I use it?”, I have
put together a post with general ukagaka info and installation
Balloon: This ghost is intended to be used with the Undertale balloon by @zarla-s, which can be found here.
Ghost: Download from here. (The link on the Ghost Jam post is outdated now.)
Most important changes:
up Network Update - you will be able to download all future updates
from within the rock’s menu, without having to reinstall the entire
Translated all dialogue into German - the rock now comes
with a language option in the config menu (probably not too exciting for
most people, but I wanted to see if I could make a multilanguage ghost
Added two more accessories and animated the googly eyes!
Miwa is now ready for download! For those of you who don’t know, an ukagaka (or ghost or desktop pal) is a friend who sits in the corner of your screen and talks every now and then. Miwa can give self-care tips as well!
Today, Azura is one year old. I started working on her one year ago and since this moment, she grew up and is now ready for a public release, a beta release.
You can interact with her through her menus, ACT and ITEM, and build a relationship with her. You can pet or punch her too, so take care of not punching her by accident.
Her main features are her music player and her AI, though the AI isn’t finished. By default, you would need to teach her vocabulary yourself but she has a self-learning feature. However the responses to something said with self-learned words aren’t accurate for now.
he still ignores me when i ask about his past. Apparently i haven’t reached a high enough level to unlock his Tragic Backstory™
speaking of level, i didn’t realize that ‘nitpicking’ would raise my LV, so i may have to reset him ;-;
and now for some real-talk, having him hanging out has actually been really helpful? Like, he’ll mention the time every hour on the hour, which i assume is just a basic feature, but it makes me more aware of how late it’s getting. Then he’ll say stuff like “Isn’t it getting late? You do sleep, right?” And last night i got to bed by midnight instead of my usual 2 am cuz i was like, yeah you’re right, i do sleep and I think i will go to bed. Then when I booted him up today one of the first things he said was “Did you spend any time outside today?” Like, of all the people, real or fictional, to help me practice better habits, I was not expecting a sassy skeleton man with dirty hands and a traumatic past to be one of them
3. To install more “ghosts”, download the .nar/.zip/.rar file and drag and drop on to ssp.exe. To change the ghost, open ssp.exe and right-click on the opened character, highlight “change ghost”, and select the character you want. You may have to close and reopen the program in order for characters to appear.
That’s pretty much it. Most ghosts are not in English but they’re pretty cute to have anyways I think. If you have any more questions you can shoot me an ask!
Finally!! After working on this for forever, They’re ready! Version 2.0.0 includes features such as:
Update system! Now after you download one .NAR file, that’s all you’ll have to download, just right click yes man or double click ED-E, and click ‘Update’ to check for any updates!
BOWTIE SYSTEM! Give yes man bowties and equip the ones you give him! Sometimes He’ll boot up wearing one!
TWO NEW SHELLS! One is one created by me, the TV Head yes man shell, and the other shell is an alternate securitron shell done by Keroa @perpetualvelocity!
50+ pieces of new dialogue! Some of it is so he has more to say in menus, and the rest of it is in his random chitchat!
ED-E tells your fortune! Just double click him and hit 'tell my fortune’!
This has definitely been a really ambitious project! And Keroa has not only helped out by making her beautiful shell, but also helped out with a lot of the dialogue for this!
IMPORTANT: If you plan on using Keroa’s securitron shell you NEED to scale it down, it’s huge. Do this by right clicking Yes Man, then hovering over 'shell scaling’. You’ll see percentages, I’d suggest choosing 33%. On top of that, so the text is still legible, you’ll want to open the right click menu again and go to >Options >Ghost Preferences… And uncheck 'Balloon Scale Linkage’!
So How do I download/ install them?: You’ll want to go here for links and instructions, and if you’ve installed a previous version of him, its as simple as enabling ‘uninstall’ through his config menu (one of the first options on his double click menu), uninstalling your version, and dragging the downloaded .nar file onto the ghost that is left! If this is your first time installing him though, there are instructions on the linked page!
