BEWARE OF TUMBLR SCAMS AND HACKS!
Recently, Tumblr Users has been receiving messages such as:
“i found this funny video of you copy and paste or type http://wa9.la/12wk into your browser to see it”
“i found this funny video of you i thought you might like to see. copy and paste or type http://ow.ly/5jsiW into your browser to see it”
“LOL there is a funny picture of you on this website i thought you might like to see just type or copy and paste http://lighthouse2k.com into your browser to see it”
and many more…
Those urls included in the message are an exact replica of the tumblr log-in page. It is a scam! Once you enter your email and password, it will be used by the owners of such sites to spam messages to the people you follow or following you. Worst, they will hack your account and you will no longer be able to retrieve it. I have already reported this issue to tumblr and seems they’re not yet very aware of it. They asked me the urls of those people who messaged me any of those mentioned above. The truth is, there were really a lot.
To those who accidentally logged onto those sites, i recommend you to change your passwords. To change it, go to preferences then password.
I will be posting the list of tumblr users who messaged me right after this post.
Also, please spread this post to let others know too. Let’s be aware and keep tumblr safe!

success. presumably.
Some spam thing got a hold of people’s tumblr “Post By Email” emails that they give to you in the “Blog Settings”. A lot of people have been having this issue where they change their password, their email, even their blog names and layouts. Nothing seemed to work. I’m not having that issue with a spammer, but there had to be a constant that had to be connected to their blogs even while they were changing things, and didn’t have to know…log into their account.
The “Post by Email” email that’s in your blog settings allows you to post something on that specific blog without having to even log into your own account. You just email it, and it goes into the person’s blog. Don’t know how they managed to get a lot of them, but the solution is to reset it. Cut it off from your blog.
For those of you who have this McDonalds headphones dumbshit spam problem, go to your Blog Settings and reset your “Post by Email.” Do NOT forget to save the edits you made. Should solve the issue.
Tumblr spam problem.
So recently my Tumblr began posting spam about free headphones and free McDonalds and I changed my password about 30 times but it still happens. After doing some research I found out that you can post to Tumblr from a generated email that they supply but sometimes they can become infected or get hijacked from the Tumblr server.
So here’s what I did in steps.
- Go into blog settings for the blog that is posting Spam.
- Find your “Post by email” generated email and click reset.
- That email should have regenerated to another random account.
- Click save and exit.
- Go into account settings and reset your password.
If you have anyone on your follow list or know anyone with this spam problem link them to this post as I hope it will work, we can try eh?
Thanks for all your messages alerting me to the problem, since I had my Facebook and Twitter linked to this blog it has made my other accounts on other social networks suffer.
How to get rid of the Tumblr Starbucks Spam
Do you keep getting spam from what appearers from the staff?
It’s not. It’s a spam that has been catching people out since time began (okay not that long but you get my point)
I even had it, this is how I got rid of it.
After you get rid of it, don’t be a crazy bitch and click on it again, or anything giving holidays or iphones. Or any crazy shit like that.
Steps
1) Change your password and email, immediately.
2) Go to your HTML code for your theme, and all the way at the end, you’ll see some crazy numbers all jumbled up. DELETE IT ALL. Or get a new theme all together, because those numbers are where the virus is settled.
3) Just to be on the safe side - clear your browser’s history
Remember:
The only place you can log in is Tumblr’s log in page (it’s not rocket science)
Just watch yourself okay? :)
PS. If this has helped you please, reblog it.
THANK YOU!
How to report spam to Tumblr
Thought I’d share this in case y’all were wondering…I just learned how to do this…
To report a user, go to Tumblr’s ‘Block’ page and enter the username you want to report, if you haven’t already blocked the account. The user will show up in your block list along with the text ‘Report for: spam, harassment.’ The words ‘spam’ and “harassment” are clickable; click the appropriate option to report the user.

Tumblr Beats Headphones Spam
There is a spam post going around on Tumblr in which there is a picture of a pair of Beats by Dr. Dre headphones, and the author of the blog claiming that the headphones “just arrived this morning”, after they took part in a survey. The post tells you to click on a link which would take you to the survey.
Please do not click on that link. It’s a shortened link, which then redirects you to another page, which takes over your Tumblr blog, and the spam then gets posted on your own blog many times over.
Some people are saying that changing their theme gets rid of it. If nothing else is working, try that and see if it stops the spam.
Please reblog this post and let people know.
