Action cartoons are a dying breed.
I Just came back from a gruesome day of college BS and a bunch of other shit I’d rather not talk about, only to come back home and discover that we’ve lost 2 other shows to the recent cancellation fiasco.
It seems that anything with an ounce of adventure, maturity, intelligence or story is dying off left and right.

And now, to add to the list:

They are either put on gruelingly-long hiatuses, given very little-to-zero marketing, put in ridiculous timeslots or are simply killed off before they’re ever given another chance with a second season. The causes vary from network to network, rumor to rumor.
Some of them were the victims of their own directors leaving a said studio, ”failed toy lines,” executive hissy-fits and cat-fights between suits higher up the ladder, diminishing production budgets, episode leaks, exclusive to unpopular channels, networks verging on bankruptcy or even just flat-out incompetence.
Regardless, it seems that nothing lasts over 3 seasons. And that’s no longer the case with original IPs such as Symbionic Titan or Motorcity - even the mainline franchises such as DC cartoons are apparently having serious trouble.
So what’s the deal?
Are such cartoons considered to be too “high-budget” for today’s standards, during a time of economic crisis, even though half of the production for nearly all of these shows are outsourced to cheap Korean sweatshops?
Is it because their toylines are unsuccessful - even though the toy industry itself is facing an ongoing decline, thanks to children showing an increasing interest in electronics, video games and other such software?
Or maybe it’s because these shows weren’t successful enough with their small niche target audience, even though major networks continue to ignore the growing number of girls, teens and adults that are still or now watching these types of shows?
Really, what’s the deal?
Remember to vote for Tron: Uprising and Motorcity.
