This week I wanted to cover some updates from Songkick and Facebook that affect musicians.
Songkick: Tourbox

Making sure that your show info is correct throughout the web is a hassle, but Songkick just released a tool that helps solve this problem. Recently, Songkick, the website and mobile app that holds concert info, launched Tourbox. Tourbox is a widget that allows artists to share and update their tour information across many platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, Tumblr, Spotify, and more. The tool will help ensure that fans know of any show updates or changes. According to Billboard, “Songkick is used by six million music fans each month and offers concert information through songkick.com, its iOS app and such digital services as Spotify, YouTube, Vevo, Onesheet, Mobile Roadie, the Hype Machine and Songbird.” Check out Tourbox and publish your tour dates everywhere.
Facebook Promotes Posts and more![]()
Despite tumbling stock prices, Facebook recently introduced a couple updates including: promoted posts for brand pages, the ability to schedule posts, and different page admin roles.
Facebook brand pages can now pay to promote posts. Similar to promoted tweets, Facebook’s promoted posts give more visibility to the update and is displayed prominently on fans’ feeds. In addition, these promoted posts will be labeled “sponsored”. Facebook brand page managers can pay from $5-$20 to get more people who like your page to see the post. Mashable has a great step-by-step guide on how to create a promoted post on Facebook.
Facebook also created the ability to schedule posts. This poses as a threat to Hootsuite which has been used by many because of its ability to schedule posts on various social media platforms and its analytics of these posts.
Another update from Facebook helps add security to brand pages. The social network updated pages to have different admin roles. There are 5 different admin roles each with different abilities. See the chart for more:

All these Facebook brand page updates affect musicians that have fan pages. Musicians can decide whether or not they want to promote their posts in order to increase visibility for certain updates. They can schedule posts while on the go or have someone go in and update their pages by assigning admin roles. Furthermore, musicians can update their pages while out on the road with the Pages manager app.
Songkick’s Tourbox and Facebook’s updates to brand pages will make a musician’s life easier by providing accurate show information and allowing for page management on the go. Check out these tools and let us know what you think.
