Henry Douglas/21/Ghost/Alex Pettyfer/OPEN
On August 14, 1979, a 21-year-old man became ill after riding Space Mountain. At the unload area, he was unable to get out of the vehicle. Although employees told him to stay seated while the vehicle was removed from the track, other ride attendants did not understand that his vehicle was to be removed and sent him through the ride a second time. He arrived at the unloading zone semi-conscious, and died upon the arrival of the paramedics.
Henry had everything going for him: his parents were perfect and happily married, his younger sister was as adorable as could be, he had an amazing girlfriend, and he himself had the looks, brains, and brawn to go far in life. He was the Golden Boy of his high school, and headed off to UCLA on a full-ride football scholarship. For years, everything was falling into place for him, and he could never fathom his life being any other way. His (many) friends described him as good-looking, funny, brilliant, and generous. And they weren’t overestimating his character.
Nobody knows the cause of his death, he can’t even quite describe what happened himself. The entire process was a blur to him. All he knows now is that his perfect life was stolen from him and has grown bitter by how unjust it all is. He typically blends in flawlessly among the crowds of tourists, which is his goal. If it were up to him, everyone would see him as the Golden Boy he was before. Now in the park, he lies about being a ghost, trying to cling to the living desperately to keep his legend going. Will he finally let go of his past, trapped in the place where he lost his future, or will he drag others down with him?
