Armed with a newly acquired fluorescent orange dip not, a backpack full of water and some bug spray I set out this morning with high hopes of finally finding the Queen Snake that has been eluding me.
Guess what, I was once again disappointed. This morning was a total flop. The only herp we saw was this odd looking Fowler’s Toad and some tadpoles that I was unable to I.D. but were most likely Wood Frogs, judging by the size of them and the abundance of them in the area. Aside from that, we caught tons of Queen Snake food (crayfish).
I want to say that there’s nothing more disappointing then setting out and not finding the snake you’re looking for but that’s not true. There’s two things worse, finding your target DOR or finding your target only for it to slip away.
Oh well, a day of disappointment only means another day of searching, which I will gladly do.
