Hello!
Tumblr is where tens of millions of creative people around the world share and follow the things they love.
Sign up to find more cool stuff to followI’m really, really against people outing other people against their will, but I’ve been getting this feeling lately that maybe the boys want to be caught? Idk…because like wouldn’t it technically not be breaking contract if they were conveniently caught in the act? What with that new BG, the possible Larry movie date last night, and now this french thing…Idk I’m just getting ~vibes~
Ok, listen up. Especially if you call yourself a feminist or support feminism.
So, I’ve always been a supporter of feminism. You could probably consider me a feminist, but I’m not actively involved in the movement— meaning I don’t go to feminist events, contribute to feminism concretely through social media (like videos, run a radio station, etc), and I am not a part of a feminist organization. But yes, I am a supporter and I believe feminism is important and crucially necessary— IF DONE THE RIGHT WAY. Now where am I going with this? You will see.
I have been a fan of Anita Sarkeesian for a long time now. She makes many videos discussing real world, relevant feminist issues through her videos on YouTube. If you have not seen them, I suggest you do. I’ve seen them all.
Now, I consider Anita a true feminist. Why? Because she is an active member in the feminist movement AND she supports feminism the way it’s supposed to be. Anita does not throw men on the ground and yell “Misogyny!”— she actually analyses all of the content she is talking about and conveys it objectively, pointing out the injustices towards women in the media. And she does so very detailed, which I love. Her message is one of equality— what feminism is all about. Anita wants women and men on equal terms and she is doing a great job and expressing her message through her videos by showing us these real life issues that most of us may have never realized.
Now, here is where I talk about people who claim to be feminists.
You are NOT a feminist if you
- run a hate blog towards men.
- are not positively contributing to the movement.
- shoot down any male who says they feel a certain way simply because they are a male and therefore are “not entitled” to feel that way.
- are not aiming towards equality.
You are a faux feminist. Or probably borderline— if not completely— a misandrist.
I suggest if you claim you are a feminist or a supporter of feminism that you at least do your research and immerse yourself in the right information. Feminism isn’t about being rude to every male who expresses their feelings or completely denying someone’s right to even say anything just because they are male. That is sexism.
Feminism is about equality. If you are not doing right, don’t do it at all. Don’t call yourself a feminist— because I’m probably more of a feminist than you.
#Menswear
Today an article was published discussing the “Oral History of Menswear Blogging and Street Style” the article is interesting but it’s a bit pretentious and a tad narrow minded. The article while shedding light on an arena that is growing every day fails to open up past one single aesthetic, which is simply referred to as “menswear”.
Menswear relates to mens clothing, mens fashion and not just one aesthetic. At the end of the day the guy in the corduroy double breasted blazer, chambray shirt and camo khakis is wearing menswear just as is the guy who’s wearing a leather jacket, hoodie and jeans, and so is the guy in the two button black suit, white shirt and black tie. Thats all menswear. Not just the now so in vogue “heritage” look, based upon “quality” we’re told. Mean while its being made and sold in mass by brands such as J.Crew and others who out source their production to China and similar countries. The guys into the heritage idea are the guys who aren’t buying jeans from Uniqlo, or JCrew but are spending the money on Sugar Canes, Pure Blue Japans, Iron Heart’s etc, jeans produced in small batches by artisan heritage denim factories in Japan and that’s damn cool.
Menswear was exciting in the early part of the 2000’s Helmut Lang, Heidi Slimane, Martin Margiela were all still designing and creating beautiful menswear. Design was inspired and not stale, not just reaching for something so simple, so safe, so accepted as prep/heritage. There was a sense of energy to so much of what was coming out, young designers like Raf Simons, Rick Owens, Takahiro Miyashita, and more were getting coverage. There was design happening and being celebrated. The press wasn’t so enamored by something so simple, and so surface.
Guys were buying clothes and creating individualistic looks with character even if they weren’t spending top dollar on designer clothing. Streetwear was gaining momentum and brought with it a unique, edgy and exciting aspect to traditional menswear. Guys we’re figuring out their own look and weren’t trying to just fit to one idea. Now so many guys who are into fashion are hard to tell apart from guys who’s girlfriends shop for them at the local Abercrombie or Macy’s. It’s not about a dark avant garde aesthetic vs a classic American prep (or blue collar sometimes combined) aesthetic, it’s about being an individual. It’s about being open minded, its about finding your self, its about being able to really identify with something before you buy it and blog about it. What’s so unique and amazing about the same plaid shirt that is being produced at a 10,000 piece volume for 250 storefronts world wide? How do you connect with it?
It’s just too bad so many of the amazing designers out there making menswear that is circle peg to the square hole of what is now popular and celebrated. The overwhelming support and coverage of one aspect of menswear kind of sucks. It’s white washing a whole community of designers out there from other parts of the world inspired by something other than New England. I understand these things go in cycles and what not but its just astounding how so much attention is focused on this one element of menswear. Maybe I need to get some pop color socks and I’ll understand a bit better.
my entire dash is people either upset that trickster jane is white
or people getting jumped on because they don’t find it offensive that trickster jane is white
i dont personally care because her skin color doesn’t have shit to do with the plot which i thoroughly enjoy
and if i wanna cosplay trickster jane then god fucking damnit i will do it no matter what color her skin is
I would have much less of a problem with Hook, if just the producers and media didn’t keep describing him as this ‘charming and potential love interest’ kind of guy, because he really isn’t. He’s pretty vile, and also creepy, and that is okay because I do want characters like that - and we do have 300 years of background still missing, and I do want more of his background (in Neverland and with Milah as well), but as for right now, he’s just makes chills run down my spine, and not in a ‘god I’m so excited’ kind of way. He might not always have been like this, but the person he has become is, quite frankly, disgusting. That’s okay. Regina used to be a vile, evil, heartless character, Rumple’s done countless ruthless things. There might still, one day, be a redemption-arc for Captain Jones, but right now SOMEONE PLEASE PUNCH HIM.
I’ve noticed the general consensus of those opposed to gun control is simply that laws don’t work.
Which is quite interesting, really. It makes me consider a few things. What real significance does the law hold? It’s a huge part of this government which is obviously trying to undermine its populous and cheat them out of everything they have and is basically useless (sarcasm fyi). There are people who follow the law, and there are people who don’t. What effect does that have? Furthermore, do the people who follow the law become obsolete because there are people who don’t? Because some people break the law, does that mean the laws shouldn’t even be there in the first place? I mean they don’t even do anything, people are just gonna break them. Why should I have to go 65 on the freeway when someone else is going 90. That’s just ridiculous. They’re going to get somewhere 15 minutes faster than me, that 15 minutes of my life all because of some stupid law that this guy isn’t even following.
I just don’t get this logic. People are so convinced that making these laws is not going to do a damn thing and they don’t even want to TRY because it would be an added burden to them. Newsflash, there is no way of knowing what effect it could have, it may be one way in one area, and different in another, there is no way of measuring that, but its a disgrace to people suffering that we sit back and do NOTHING. If you don’t like the things people are trying to do, COME UP WITH A BETTER SOLUTION.
Peter Hale
You know what? I can’t wait. There is so much that’s going to go on Season 3 and among all that I really want to know how Peter worms his way around.
Do you guys realize that this broken soul had to sit back six years in agony and rage. He let that dark thing inside him fester and grow until it all but consumed him. It must have been painstaking to know that he couldn’t do anything but heal and plot his revenge. So he waited and played up his injuries.
He waited until he got to his nurse and then to Laura.
Peter waited again throwing screen after screen of distractions for Derek and the whole town of Beacon Hills.
But then we were led to believe that he was dead.
Now he’s back through a well thought out plan to resurrect himself using Lydia. Isn’t it convenient that when Gerard Argent and his crew had rooted themselves in Beacon Hills, Peter surfaces? Kanimas? An Alpha Pack is making their way to the town? His nephew is distraught and in need of guidance?
It’s all smokescreens. He buries himself in unassuming places. He isn’t drawing attention to himself, he lets other people have the spotlight. He’s busying himself by getting under Derek’s skin.
It’s just a matter of time until he strikes. I bet you that this group of Alphas rolling their way into town is just part of Peter’s plan.
Being an alpha is just his style and integral to going forward with his revenge
But I doubt he’ll steal it from his nephew, no, why kill his only living relative when he just kill one of these new Alphas encroaching on Hale territory?
It’s just a guess at what’s coming but I really just can’t wait what Peter Hale has up his sleeves.
Jack and Chivalry
I have recently come to the decision that I would like to post some of my thoughts on different characters in Yu-Gi-Oh! here. Not really full-out analyses or anything like that (though some of them may wind up long-winded), just thoughts and insights that I’ve gleaned from their characters in their respective series. So here’s the first little character discussion I’ve decided to write about.
NOTE: Anything stated here-after are my own personal thoughts and opinions. You do not have to agree with me! In fact, if you don’t agree with me or have noticed something different yourself, feel free to let me know! I love to discuss things with people. Please do not shank me for having my opinions. Thank you!
Jack and Chivalry
It’s actually something that has always fascinated me about Jack – the fact that while he claims to be ‘The King’ exclusively and nonstop, he has so many qualities that would honestly qualify him as a knight in Ye Good Olde Days. Everything about Jack just screams ‘chivalry’ to me.
And yes, people will argue that Jack is a very pig-headed person. Which is totally true! He is pig-headed, full of himself, and tends not to listen to other people (unless it’s Yusei, then he tends to listen just a tiny bit better). But hear me out.
Chivalry is defined as the ‘sum of the ideal qualifications of a knight including courtesy, generosity, valor, and dexterity in arms’.
While Jack does not exhibit a great deal of courtesy on a general basis, he does so when the situation calls for it or, specifically, when dealing with a woman. As he says to Martha upon seeing her for the first time in years, “A King always shows respect to a lady.” This is, in fact, a very kingly trait as well, but more frequently attributed to a knight – someone who has to work hard to remain in the good graces of those around him.
Jack is, in his essence, a very generous person. He is happy to take everything he needs for himself, but he will not steal it from others. He shows his generosity in moments when he fights for others to get them what is rightfully theirs or – in an odd display – by giving them ramen for their family when they are in need.
I can honestly see no question about Jack’s valor. Jack never backs down from a challenge and in fact condemns Yusei for backing down from one himself. He is brave almost to a fault, always willing to keep going despite the tremendous odds against him.
And as for ‘dexterity in arms’, Jack is a pro at what he does. Obviously, he is a master of strategy (otherwise he could not have maintained the title of ‘King’ for so long), and strategy is the base for the weapon he uses – Duel Monsters.
All of this leads to the idea that Jack, at the base of it all, is very chivalrous – a quality that makes him a perfect knight. And while chivalry was something held in high regard for kings to have as well, Jack is also the sort of person who does not seem able to lead. His place is at the right-hand side, protecting, serving, and taking care of all of the big things with his own two hands.
So he’s sort of like… the Lancelot to Yusei’s Arthur.
"Ever since Cas, I've had a hard time trusting anybody."
I know there’s going to be a lot of talk about this line, and probably a lot of opinion storms and wank.
So I just want to quickly say how I heard it. Maybe I’ll make a longer, more analytical post later, at another time.
I don’t hear it as Dean dissing on Cas for betraying them and “going to the dark side” and all that shit. I don’t hear it as Dean counting Cas as one of the bad guys.
I hear it as a tiny window that Dean finally opened onto his feelings of loss and shock, and how hesitant he is to get attached ever again. Cas was their friend, their ally. He was with them for a few years, always there for them. Dean had even finally gotten to the point of calling him a brother. He had opened up, let this other person into his life, his bulletproof, armored, twisted, hanging-off-the-edge life, and that’s a pretty big deal. Only a few people really got that far or even could ever get that far, and Cas had earned his spot there. Without being family from the start, and only over the course of two or three years, so that’s pretty quick for Dean, too.
And for Dean, that’s probably a mutual thing. ‘I’m here for you, you’re here for me, we let each other know what’s up’ kind of thing. (Well, Dean’s often a bit more closed-off than that, but you see what I’m getting at, yeah?). And then he finds out that Cas has been working behind the scenes. Maybe not exactly against them, but not quite with them, either. More importantly, he’s been working without telling them a thing about his plan or what he’s been doing, and he’s been working with a demon.
And, well, I could talk for a long time about what happens next and where all that leads, but you all already know. It doesn’t end well, and it all happens in a rush, chaotically crashing together over the span of a few days. And now this person he grew attached to, let into his personal life, worked with, cared about — this person is gone, and so much is still left unsaid.
So, yeah, he’s having a hard time trusting. When you take a chance, even a cautious one, and reach out a hand, and you end up losing a finger, yeah, you’re going to be damn hesitant to ever do that again, especially when you’re as closed-off as Dean.
And I guess that’s my little interpretation and personal standing on that quote, and why I like it and see it as a good thing (writing and story-wise, not exactly character health-wise). I’m sure I could say a more or be much more articulate with my thoughts and feelings on this subject, but this is already much longer than I originally intended for a quick little opinion.
You know what? I'm really liking this theory that the boss Leviathan held on to Cas/Jimmy as a vessel
There’s just something I like about it. I don’t even think Cas is dead. He’s still in there, with the Leviathan. No, it’s not going to be fun times for him. But he’s still there, and we’ll see him when we get to meet the lead Leviathan. And eventually Cas will come back. He’ll fight back. Sam and Bobby and especially Dean will help him back, and we’ll have our good old Cas again. It’ll all probably happen much later in the season, but I think it’ll happen.
Yeah. That’s what I believe, and I’m sticking to it until harshly proven otherwise.

He thinks of you as a mother! PROTECT YOUR DAMN KIDS.

Chibs. You’re such a sweetheart, looking after Juice. You need to keep him safe and you need to get the club to protect Juice as well. I am tasking you with getting him through this shit. You understand where he is coming from. Just please don’t call him a coward again.
Laroy. Thank you for spitting in Luis’ face. You get a cookie.
