I’m just gonna say everything I want to say about Mikoto and Anna right now. 

I absolutely love their relationship more than anything else in this show. They were literally the only reason I picked it up again and watched it all the way through. She can only see the color red, but Mikoto’s was the prettiest to her.

Mikoto dreamt about his own death in episode 6, and Anna predicted it at the end of 9. She said “You’re still going to go?” to which he had no reply, and she obviously understood his intentions all along. I think her final scene of screaming out his name was just her being caught up in the horrible moment when it finally arrived, but she had been aware all along that he knew he was going to die, and she accepted his decision.

Mikoto obviously cared deeply for Anna. He never said much as King, but he always let her hold his hand, and always held hers back. He noticed the only time she laughed. During his dream of his death, he only woke when he heard Anna calling for him not to go. When the Colorless King threatened his comrades, Mikoto didn’t so much as flinch, but once Anna was threatened, he opened his eyes in anger.

Therefore, I was just about sobbing when he died, and his last words were for her. I think it was the first time he’s ever said her name, too.
