Putting life in perspective.

There is more than just the personal pronoun “I” out there. If you want to be a part of something, work as a team, watch other people’s back, and do it right. That is what teamwork is about. You cannot cut corners to get there. Everyone picks up everyone’s slack. There is no weak link. At the end of the day, the unit gets the work done together. They struggle together. They play together. They make mistakes and fix it together.

In the movie The Lucky One, Logan (Zac Efron—his scruffiness, who can resist?), the Marine veteran with his German Sheppard is always there. Whether it was for his platoon or for Beth and her kid, Ben, he always looks out for them. In shy Ben’s best interest, Logan encourages him to play the violin while he plays the piano at church (of course having each others back). It helps grow the confidence Ben needed.

For Beth, he gives her room, yet lets her know he wants to ensure that she feels safe, especially from the hot-tempered, abusive, ex-husband sheriff of hers. Logan knows what to do.

He observes. He listens. “Most people don’t know how to appreciate the silence. They can’t help talking” but he knows how to keep the silence (The Lucky One). He handles situations in confidence and approaches broken things and fixes them. More importantly, he fixes the family, both metaphorically and literally. He stands up for them. What he believes, what he says, what his actions convey, they are all a part of him. Never does he surrender his values in any situation. He is as steadfast as a soldier can be.
