CRAP i totally forgot about those cheesy announcements! i remember those too, especially since the people who won were always the drama kids with big personalities (= lots of friends = popular) and announcements + prayer (lol catholic school) were always an ~adventure~.
one time in sixth grade my friend tim was leading the morning bible reading or w/e, which was broadcast to each classroom via tv like a real morning news show (rly qt in retrospect), and he slipped up and instead of “blessed” he solemnly recited, “and the angel said unto mary, ‘you are truly breast’” and you could hear every student from pre-k to eighth grade dying of laughter along our one-hallway school building. GOOD TIMES.

Oh man, I’d forgotten about Hero somehow! That was an awesome name, you’re right. I think I wanted her to be Juliet for a while, too, just all the Shakespeare heroines. (Juliet is still the best Shakespeare heroine, I will fight anyone who says different.) (um of the heroines I have read um) ALSO: you know the rest of that story, it is not the Narcissa war hero story at all, mostly it just has dragons. *g*
