Topic 10: Thermodymaics
What is the equation for an ideal gas?
Ans: pV = nRT
Where p = pressure, v = volume, n = number of moles, R = Molar gas constant (8.31 J mole^-1 K^-1) and T = temperature
Describe the difference between an ideal gas and a real gas.
Ans:
Real gas: There is interaction between molecules, especially at high pressures and have finite size.
Ideal gas: Based on the assumptions that all collisions are perfectly elastic, perfectly round identical spheres, no interaction etc.
